As a newly married couple, and having never lived in London before, the world of estate agents and rental prices felt a little overwhelming to say the least. After trying various phone numbers I accidentally stumbled upon an advert for a rental property from Foxtons. The first thing that I was surprised at was how friendly and welcoming their staff were on the phone. Speaking to Silvana Borja felt very different to a lot of other estate agents I spoke to; there was genuine interest in helping us. After describing what we were looking for, I was shown around three potential properties by her that afternoon, one of which hadn't even been put up on the market. I wanted to make a quick decision, so there and then decided to put a deposit down. From that point on the process has been slick and easy. The Customer Service - from Silvana in particular - has been absolutely exceptional, every question has been answered at every stage of the process and I couldn't recommend Foxtons highly enough, they have been fantastic.

Landlords and Tenants should avoid Foxtonsflation in 2023! The current Letting's Manger Mr Robert Conway at Willesden Green is purely driven by OTE and he inflated a rental valuation from £1100 pcm to £1500 pcm, a whopping 36.36% increase in desperate attempt to stop me walking out of the door and taking the business elsewhere. I was seeking financial compensation for mismanagement and the Letting's manager could do nothing for me except hike the rent of the next tenant and offer me a miserable £250 discount on the next contract. Effectively getting the next tenant to pay more rent to subdue my compensation claims for Foxton's own incompetence. The current tenant had been there just over a year and had already complained directly to me about Foxton's rental price valuation already being too high for a studio of only 20 square meters and had given notice to leave at the end of the fixed term. We had previously given some other business to Foxtons and we were shocked that they had flagged us for a £20,000 fine to the Government for not having a valid Gas Safe certificate once the tenant had already moved in. We have our own engineer doing such work and our valid certificate was rejected on multiple occasions and the threats of the fine continued. I spoke with the Letting's manager multiple times who failed on every occasion to take any responsibility for this plainly wrong action and blamed the IT department and our technical skills were challenged by their insistence on the only possible way we could avoid this £20,000 fine would be via the myfoxtons portal. I continued to email the the valid Gas Safe certificate multiple times to the Lettings Manager Mr Charlie Willars and the only way to remove these unwanted notifications was to leave Foxtons altogether which is much more complicated than you can imagine! They do not negotiate and they charged us 21.6% (18%+VAT) for the fully managed service which is nothing more than a online portal which contains incorrect information that will waste your time on every occasion and will result in further friction between Landlords and Tenants. As a Landlord I genuinely feel that the tenant should feel comfortable about the level of rent paid and I will be reaching out to Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Ben Twomey of Generation Rent and Ben Beadle of the NRLA. The current draft of the Renters Reform Bill should be updated with a maximum commission that can be charged by a lettings agent as that price is ultimately paid by the tenant. This would have a more significant impact than any other measure and the savings should be passed onto the tenant. I will give them a full account Foxton's ruthless business practices and will update here in due course.

I bought a flat that was left unoccupied for a long time with vendor living overseas and Foxtons managing the sale on his behalf.
On two occasions when viewing the property I noticed the faulty alarm system that couldn’t be switched off. I was assured this will be dealt with before I move in.
As I found out on the afternoon I moved in this didn’t. happen. Foxtons had the keys to the flat for many months but failed to disconnect the alarm or deal with the facility bills. On the day I moved in I had no choice but to switch the power off and unpack in total darkness and no heating on a cold and damp day while I was waiting for an emergency systems engineer to cut the alarm off. And this cost me £150! At the same time I had to sort out the handover of the property I was selling which added to the stress. My cat went missing and I wasn’t able to look for him as I had to stay and wait for the alarm engineer.
As I also found out in the next few days Foxtons failed to do any meter readings and close the facilities accounts. I had to turn a detective and spend hours on the phone tracking the suppliers and dealing with the mess. The whole handover was totally mismanaged.
I was a cash buyer and paid the full asking price to receive this poor level of service.
What’s worse they refuse to take any responsibility and blame me for not surveying the property. Really?
Still waiting for an apology and a refund…a month after alerting them to this.

We were very impressed with Marwa. We decided to rent our apartment, once again through Foxtons and Marwa was allocated to assist us. She did an absolutely superb job. Within 3 days she had found the perfect tenants and followed that up effectively, making sure that all paperwork was signed speedily. My property was managed by the landlord who was great throughout. Foxtons's involvement was literally to list and let the flat, so their involvement basically started after we announced we were moving away and thus had no potential monetary value to them.
Over the course of 1 month, we had north of 60 viewings arranged, pretty much all of which were arranged at less than 8 hours notice, let alone 24 hours. Multiple offices (queens park, west hampstead, willesden green, st johns wood) were booking without coordinating centrally so even if we asked one of them to please give an appropriate amount of notice another one would email in the middle of the work day for a 6pm viewing. It was basically an absurdly dull game of clerical whack-a-mole and it was exhausting.
Eventually we just stopped asking them for this minimum courtesy since there wasn't a hope in hell of them honouring it and allowing us the freedom to arrange our own move during evenings and weekends. Then, a complete hash was made of the deposit release, finally finding its way to us more than 3 weeks after our landlord approved it and more than 6 weeks after we moved out.
They didn't have to do much, but absolutely nothing to recommend from their minimal involvement in our tenancy.

In spite of his youth he seemd to understand that it is a stressful time selling and was very patient with all my ups and downs. Even though we have not rented through Foxtons in the end, my partner and I were so happy to meet Silvana Borja during our flat hunting. We even made an offer for a place in Cricklewood (1 Richborough Road)
Since day 1 she has been warm, welcoming and fun to work with. She immediately understood our needs and what we were looking for even though, considering our budget and the type of property we had in mind, it was not an easy task. Nevertheless, by the time she took us to the fourth viewing we felt like we had found the perfect place. We are a bit picky and not easy to deal with when it comes to houses so you can understand our amazement when finally, after 2 weeks of viewings, Silvana showed us this place in 77 Walm Lane if I am not wrong.
Two days passed and we lost it on another offer. We were devastated because at the same time, a loft style flat through a private landlord came to our attention and we were really confused. Silvana met us again and just like the first time, she showed us a place even better than the one we had lost in Cricklewood (1 Richborough Road)
I don't know how she does it but it must have something to do with her contagious positive attitude. She listened very carefully to our opinions, she kept our moods up when we were losing all hopes thus showing us how much she cared. It never felt like the typical agent-customer relationship but more like a team work and she made the whole process smooth and enjoyable.
We have been living in London for 7 years and we do know very well the stress involved into finding a new property and this is why i can easily say that Silvan was by far the best agent I have ever came across. She gained our trust quickly and we loved every minute spent with her. It is a shame we didn't finalize an agreement with her in the end, but this is not her fault at all. We'd turn to Silvana in the future in a split of a second :) the thing is that our budget did not allow us to find a loft style apartment and we were considering a more standard flat. In the end, one came along through a private landlord and we went for it.
So thank you Silvana for your incredible help, support, smile and most of all your patience and willingness to always go the extra mile. We'll definitely look at the estate agent world in a different way from now on.

I let my property through Foxtons last year. They found me a tenant quickly and efficiently. This year I am letting though them again. This time, within 2 days of informing them that I wished to let the property again, they found me another tenant. Once again, they have been totally efficient and helpful . I have no hesitation in recommending them. I commissioned this branch between 29 February 2014 - 29 April 2014. David is suppose to be the manager of this branch, yet managed to not check prospective buyers ability to make their offer, which resulted in my solicitor doing three lots of work only for the sale to fall through. This I will have to pay for. Brodie who attend two of the aborted sales viewings had to be chased for feedback and seemed not to know anything about the buyers and struggled to communicate. I was very disappointed and would rate the members of this branch that I dealt with 2 out of 10. The two points are for their photography which was fabulous. I would advise anyone dealing with this branch & the individuals named to be mindful they are foxy by name & by nature. MG
