FirstPort, formerly Peverel, was responsible for systematically cheating pensioners in retirement sites which resulted in an Office of Fair Trading ruling of bid rigging in December 2014. The freehold belongs to the Tchenguiz Family Trust, based in the British Virgin Islands.Tchenguiz's interests account for the bulk of FirstPort's business. Therefore, considering the history and people involved there is a great deal of mistrust of Firstport. Although, pretty much of the service charges are explained in the annual accounts to each leaseholder. Some are practical expenses you will expect, lift repairs, kitchen equipment replacement, insurance, lighting costs etc. However, Firstport seem to be stooges on behalf of E&M Estates who manage the freehold and charges on behalf of Tchenguiz. Recently residents received a £13000 cost for replacing communal lightbulb to LED light bulbs. Tania Wytchell the Firstport area manager, seems incapable of responding to pertinent questions regarding the breakdown of the costs or associated saving on the electricity bill etc etc. Firstport are used to modernise the building for the freeholder at a cost to the leaseholders. The on site manager refused entry to estate agents who were selling of the flats at the development, claiming on their agents were permitted to sell the flats. Nothing is done for leaseholders, only to maintain vested interests for the Freeholder. Pity there is no zero rating.
Comment on agent fees
Monthly fees are in line with Assisted Living facilities I guess.
