I used Winkworth to find a tenant for my property and manage it. It has been a horrendous experience and I would recommend choosing pretty much any other agency. I needed to do some work for an electricity certificate and they brought a supplier which quoted me 3 times what it should cost so had to find a supplier myself. Then, due to a "human error" they sent their supplier in without telling me and did the work. My supplier came in and called me that they already did the work and I had to pay him for his time (which to be fair they did reimburse me). However, they then charged me the full amount of their supplier who did unapproved work in my property. Needless to say I terminated the contract with them immediately. They also extremely rude and unresponsive, would highly recommend to stay away.

Very disappointed and request ignored Decided to end the contract for the tenancy and I was reliable to pay until the new tenant moved in. Very disappointed and request ignored
Decided to end the contract for the tenancy and I was reliable to pay until the new tenant moved in. Winkworth were not bothered to look for someone sooner, took their time while I already left the flat. Ended up paying one+ month for a free flat. My request to find someone sooner than 2 months in advance was simply ignored!

What agent could do to change your mind?
Return phone calls, and do the job they are paid for! Not letting issues go on for 9 months until the tenant is put in danger by structural collapses. To make repairs, people do not need to enter the flat on 9 occasions so that they can get the cheapest quote.

Winkworth have the most unprofessional, negligent people working for them. When I moved into my flat, 1 year ago I could see water damage had formed in certain areas. Not only was it ugly, but also made me wonder about mould and structural issues. After asking to have it addressed about 5 times the first month, it continued to get worse. After sending photos, people from Winkworth came to see it a number of times. I asked consistently every few weeks for 9 MONTHS to have it fixed since it became exponentially worse. Eventually one day, the ceiling caved in entirely, leaving a hole with a circumference of 1.5 meters. This is the worst example, but I have also had my tenant rights tossed aside time and time again when they refuse to call me to let me know workers will be coming by, simply giving them the keys to enter at any time. Sometimes when I have been indecent! No matter how big or small the issue is, these people are so unprofessional. Many other things needed to be fixed in the flat too, but they never will be, because of how slow and terrible they are. Given that I have an 18 month lease and pay quite expensive rent for my posh flat, this is unacceptable. I could never recommend them to anyone. Yes they may have some nice properties, but they only care about their fees. Several times in fact they have tried to squeeze out extra money from me, making up ridiculous things to charge me for, only to back down when I tell them I do not owe them any money. I feel badly for those who live in their properties and do not stand up to them, they are the scum of letting agents in my opinion. Will never rent from them again.
