Was told a property was unavailable because the current tenant was refusing to leave. Okay, no problem, not Chancellors' fault. Saw the property was back on their website a few weeks later, called up, ASKED SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THE TENANT. Was told she had left, flat was okay for viewing, booked viewing. Hooray.
Morning of viewing, told viewing is cancelled because existing tenant refuses to leave. Still.
Why the hell is the place listed on their website when they know damn well it's occupied? Why was I lied to when I called up to ask specifically about the existing tenant? This isn't even the first time that Chancellors - a different branch, to be fair - has lied to me about properties being available when they blatantly weren't.
How are you supposed to buy a house through these guys when you can't trust a word they say?
What agent could do to change your mind?
If a property's unavailable, take it off your website. If people enquire about it, don't tell them everything's fine when everything is not fine.
Be honest!

We are able to arrange viewings for those properties that are currently tenanted, as most tenants are happy to allow access for such viewings to take place. Unfortunately some tenants can decide to refuse viewings and I understand that this particular tenant was not allowing access to the property, however this would not debar the office from advertising the property for sale.
The Abingdon office have confirmed that the tenant had initially stated they were leaving the property, and your viewing was booked in on this basis, but the tenant subsequently decided to stay in the property and this meant that you were not able to view the property as planned. While this is something we cannot foresee or predict and something over which we have no control, I hope any inconvenience caused as a result of the tenant’s decision was kept to a minimum.
