My 31year old son, a high-flier at work, tremendously respected and much loved by all who knew him, the tenant of this property, died alone and unexpectedly in the flat in November 2013.
Chancellors have, unlike every other organisation I have had to deal with in winding up my son's affairs, been consistently crassly insensitive, inefficient and possibly exploitative in their dealings with me and my family at a time of huge shock and grief. Despite our distress, we cleared the flat of all my sons furniture and effects, and paid for professional cleaning within 4 weeks, despite being assured there was no hurry, only to have the keys demanded peremptorily immediately that day, with no warning at all, at a time that was totally inconvenient.
The catalogue of my grievances with Chancellors is too long to write all here, but also involves a grossly unreasonable charge for replacing the internal front door (the police had to break in), frequent failure to phone us back when promised, attempts to charge us again for cleaning, etc., together with an attitude which shows complete lack of care for people who have just been bereaved.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Some staff training in handling bereaved relatives should be essential. Hopefully it's a rare occurrence, but it must happen sometimes that tenants die.
