Thoroughly dissatisfied with the 'service' from Fox & Sons.
I am renting a furnished property that was advertised and administered by them. Whilst the paperwork stage went smoothly during the move in I am disgusted with the professionalism of this company. I was simply handed the keys in the agents office and that was that. There was no formal check in and inventory procedure which I have experienced with every other letting. Consequently I was not introduced to the location of meters or anything to do with the property. I have had to find out myself that it is Economy 7 electricity and a water meter.
However, I was more disgusted by the condition of the property. It was clear that it had not been cleaned at all by previous tenant, and perhaps even longer before that. Dust and grease encrusted on all flooring, tiles and surfaces. All appliances were filthy. It took me three days to clean the property and since I had moved in on the weekend there was no point raising this with Fox and Sons as their office was by then closed.
The greatest insult came a few days later when I received a copy of the property inventory in the post. It listed items in the house as being "dirty", "greasy" etc etc so they knew that it was in an unfit state and yet made no mention of this or attempt to rectify the problem before I moved in. Furthermore even the most basic of tasks seemed too much effort for them - is it really difficult to press the test button on a smoke alarm rather then list it as untested in the inventory? Completely ludicrous.
Also, do not use this firm as they appear to have passed on my details to all manner of third party companies. I received numerous phone calls offering me "help" in setting up utilities, tv and broadband all of which I was perfectly able to do myself. My email address has been passed on and I am now receiving property related spam.
All in all a joke of an agency and not a patch on Martin & Co whom I had not a single problem with at my previous residence.
