I am incredibly unhappy with Walmsley. We were sharing a house with a mentally unstable man who started agressively shouting at 2 am. Our guess is that he was autistic. Walmsley ignored the problem and waited for us to forget about it. I had to call the police because I feared for my life. Walmsley thought it was enough to ask the guy ( a week later) what happened and since he said it would never happen again they assumed we were happy. We kept pushing for something to be done (him being moved or us moving to a different property) but we were just ignored.
I dealt with two staff members. The first, Laura hardly ever returns e-mails and when she does she is useless. My house mate had to sleep in the cold because she "forgot" (couldn't be bothered) to get her the bedding pack she paid for. I am very sorry that I ever rented a room with them. It's terrible that the University of Reading doesnt manage short-term properties anymore. Walmsley can get away with murder. I had no other choice because I'm and Erasmus student but please seek out other agencies.
DO NOT USE WALMSLEY!
What agent could do to change your mind?
If they had been clear that I would be staying outside of the campus (about 30 min walk from my workplace -they assured me it would be a 5 min walk) or if they had been transparent about the time I had to leave the property and not ignored me I wouldn't be so pissed. I had to pay extra not to sleep on the street or in the airport...after I had been very clear about my flight date and done everything with half a year in advance....that doesn't seem normal in an agency that "works harder for you".
