Any good business depends on a good admin framework and genuine desire to do the job properly. Acorn clearly have neither.
We were served notice by our landlord almost 3 months ago and Acorn came in to sell the flat.
- Visited by an agent to photograph & draw floorplan. Subsequent floorplan was hilariously inaccurate - rooms had been magic'd into different locations.
- We the tenants received numerous phonecalls from them, when they thought they were calling a prospective buyer. Clearly they can't even maintain an address book or property database.
- When they called to arrange viewings they were somewhat flippant and brusque, and rarely gave us the required notice.
- Icing on the cake; they recently phoned to advise they were having difficulty selling the property; aside from the recession, they told us the previous tenants hadn't cleaned it properly, left a mess etc. We then advised them we WERE the previous tenants - did they perhaps mean to phone the landlord? Perhaps they could have bothered to check who they were speaking to, before delivering their 'it's not our fault' spiel. When we said the landlord hadn't bothered to arrange one inspection in 6 years, they transferred their criticism to him instead. Shockingly unprofessional, careless, inept and offensive. Furthermore, we had cleaned the flat thoroughly on leaving (and had been helped by a professional cleaner - not a spot had been missed and the flat was in exceptional condition!), so dishonestly blaming their inability to sell a large, comfortable, very well-equipped & transport-connected flat on the previous tenants' cleaning is pretty appalling.
They've also not bothered to notice that a light's been left on in the vacant property (we still live locally so pass it daily) for weeks now. Doesn't suggest they're arranging many viewings - and I wonder if the landlord will see fit to pass his final energy bill onto them.
Dreadful agency with nothing whatsoever to recommend them.
