I had a very upsetting experience during check out whereby the agency repeatedly delayed responding and even ignored my chasers as they were not getting feedback from the landlord. They intentionally delayed sending me a check out report by several weeks (on the contrary, the landlord received the report on time). This precluded me from making comments and corrections to the report within the 3 day time limit. They made representations in a snapshot of a list of proposed reductions to the effect that items which were left behind by a previous tenant were in fact the landlord's (which was incorrect and I had to liaise with the inventory company on those points to get clarity). They admittedly kept poor and unupdated records of the property and asked me (!) to forward them emails with the previous property manager. The delays in the deposit negotiations can only be described as shocking but there were delays in other aspects as well e.g. in fixing leak damage
by 6 months...Overall I could bring up so many examples but the gist of it is the property management I experienced was abysmal. When I confronted the property manager and pointed out violations of the Property Ombudnsman guidelines to him, he said that all he can do is relay the landlord's wishes which is a very odd reply. Many flats are listed with multiple agencies so from now on, whenever I see a Chase Evans listing that is of interest, I would just search for the same property in a competitor's website to avoid the sheer disappointment and stress-inducing experience that is communicating with and relying upon Chase Evans.
