We had the very unfortunate experience of dealing with ‘West’ while renting a property in Woodstock.

Initially Gavin West and his team were employed by Butler Sherborne, but span out on their own during the period we had to deal with them.

They were the rental agents for an overseas owner of a property we rented for 12 months in Woodstock near the entrance to Blenheim Palace in Woodstock.

Whilst we were on holiday with our 6 month old child they gained access to the property under the permission of fixing some of the multiple minor maintenance issues with the property. During that time someone engaged in sexual acts in our property whilst we were away, but left ‘physical evidence’ of said acts by way of leaving a used condom in our bin.

Gavin initially blamed a plumber who had been asked to attend, who was rightly shocked and appalled by the accusation. Once that was discounted he accused us of perpetrating the act ourselves. We disproved this by evidencing dates of occupation. He refused to investigate his team or provide an alibi for himself. We launched a criminal investigation based on burglary of items from the property connected to the sex act but frustratingly the police decided not proceed to with a prosecution before DNA testing the evidence so we were unable to launch a criminal or civil case against west and Gavin.

We escalated this to the Police complaints process and our MP, but we got no redress.

Whilst it is not ‘proved’ that Gavin or his representatives perpetrated this act, they acted to cover up the issue, blamed us as victims, and his superiors soon saw sense to exit him and them from the business. Read into that what you will.

I would not entrust this man and firm with keys to your property.
