Rented the property for the 2019/2020 academic year. Informed in July that there was substantial water damage to the property but would be resolved within the 2 months before all students moved in during September. It is now January 2020 and we have mould throughout the house, huge cracks, pressure cracks in windows due to the shifting of the property (which they have tried to charge us for), boiler leaking (classed as an emergency under their FixFlo website yet weeks later a technician has still not visited the property despite numerous promises that they would), broken showers, broken taps and broken lights due to the excess water in the property.
When asked for clear communication from KeyLet regarding the numerous repairs they have allegedly approved for the property, we were shouted out of the offices (to the disgust of students who were signing their agreement in the upstairs portion of the office).
We had been told that the issues are not too serious over the phone, for an employee of keylet - * - to then inspect the property in person and be in disbelief it was allowed to be rented out - yet they continue to field viewings for the following academic year. We have been advised by an employee (**) to contact environmental health over the condition of the property.
I could not discourage people from using KeyLet more. Repairs that have been carried out to the roof have remained incomplete and our property is now strewn with industrial waste that has yet to be cleared from the works and we have since found out that our property doesn't meet fire safety regulations.
When we have brought these issues to the attention of Keylet, the manager *** shouted out us in front of the entire office and said that if we didn't like it we should leave and should cancel our contract - after they had informed us we would have to find other accommodation for minimum 3 days (and move out all our possessions) for extensive damp proofing work.
Whatever value you place on the look/location of your accommodation with keylet, it is categorically not worth the stress of the unprofessionalism of this company.
We have contacted citizens advice who have informed us that we have a case for compensation over the living conditions of the house and how they have handled our tenancy.
Avoid at all costs.
