DO NOT USE PURPLE BRICKS. I decided to sell my home and foolishly fell for the none commission advert that cost me dearly. I contacted Purple Bricks and a Craig Tokley came to see me. He was friendly and looking back I was foolish to listen. He had one sales point and that was savings, which we all want but I never got. However he had no idea how much my house was worth and was asking me to value it, the cost of using there solicitors went up by 50% by the time I was instructing them and the advert was so unimaginative it was a joke. Myself and my partner rewrote the main part but was not as good as what a real estate agent would write. Before instructing Purple Bricks I asked for a second opinion to get my price point correct as Craig didn't know how to price it and from the figure he gave first and then he increased it by 25 thousand pounds during a phone call and then this second estate agent I wish I had instructed valued it a further 25 thousand pounds more. His original price was 50 thousand pounds off. Anyway I instructed Purple Bricks. I then started to see why they charge less. They do nothing after instruction, They don't vet potential buyers and as they get a set fee they are only interested in the sale. They don't care how much you get as they get paid the same. They are a joke, but none of this is the worst part. That came when I got an offer on my house. Craig seemed to have regular holidays as there was many occasions I was told to contact a vile woman called Rachel Mcintosh. As Craig was on holiday again when the offer came in I had to speak to Rachel. This offer had came from a couple that was not interested in putting an offer in for a further 3 months, but liked my home so much they pulled it forward. They put a respectable but cheeky offer in. The website asked if I wanted it to be professionally negotiated (What an insult to professional people) and I said yes. Rachel contacted me to asked my lowest price I was willing to go to. I told her 15 thousand pounds below the asking price thinking she had a figure to work with and not have to keep contacting me as they exchanged figures. No, the idiot went straight back to the buyer and told them my lowest price. The buyer then offer 10k less than my lowest price. I could see this on the web site so called Rachel and she said this is how she negotiates so she will call the buyer back and say she miss heard but she then said I didn't miss hear as this is how I negotiate. But she then went to the buyer and increased my price by 10K. It was shocking and embarrassing. In short I ended up excepting 5k less then my lowest price. So yes I saved approx 2 thousand on estate agent fees but my house was worth 10 thousand pounds or more than what I sold it for. My partner contacted Rachel as even though the buyer hadn't shown he had the funds in place the house was taken off the market. Rachel just lied to him telling him of conversations we had had that we never did. She claimed to have left me happy. He asked her to explain her negotiation technique which she couldn't. I would have had a little respect for her if she would have just been honest but with her lies I have less than zero. But then I believe the truth was, as she said I was Craigs client so she wasn't being paid to help me so I lost 10 THOUSAND POUNDS that I am now contacting the ombudsman to appeal. But this isn't the end. You call Purple Bricks help centre because Craigs on another holiday and they are useless. They are rude and don't call you back. They lie to you and best of all they send you all your buyers bank statements and any other financial records they have so I could qualify the buyer. When you highlight the dangerous position they have put the buyers and there family in they claim they should send you this data. They have no idea so I have also reported them to the Buyers financial adviser, the buyer and the GDPR for data protection. I spoke to people as high as directors in this company and they don't have a clue. So please save your self so much more than commissary and deal with the professional people that will sell your home for the best price and you'll be much better off.
Cost me loads more than I am supposed to have saved

May 8, 2019I hope they go bust before I have to pay them !!, I was told, no sale in 10 months then didnt have to pay a thing ! I feel totally scammed. only been on the market 1 week, regretting it already !! can't believe theres no cooling off period once advert done !!

May 14, 2019I wrote this review. Since this I have helped the ICO with more information regards the GDPR breach and gone through PB complaint procedures so I can contact the property ombudsman. As many as possible need to contact the ombudsman as with enough complaints they will look a lot deeper. It's seems obvious to me that trust pilot reviews are fake. Alison I was told it's a payment you have to make weather it sells or not. It sounds to me like you were miss sold and I would complain on those grounds. Thanks to all that has read my review. Please don't use them. They don't have a clue and the set fee means they earn the same if you give you home away or sell for millions. There's no insentive for them to get the best for you.

May 17, 2019The same thing has happened to me, at no time did the saleswoman say it's NOT no sale no fee, I thought they worked like any other estate agent. And at no time was I told that I was entering into a credit agreement! I have not paid and I won't be paying, I'm taking this all the way! Other than take some photos, print a house brochure and put my home on Rightmove/Zoopla, and I had to chase The woman to do this! Never once after that did she contact me over 4 months, I had no viewings and no contact from the agent! I am not paying for a service I haven't received!

Jun 3, 2019Similar to the above experience I am trapped. Spoke to regional director who had nothing much to say. They think we are fools....shocking!

Jul 2, 2019An agent of PB came to my home for a valuation request. He said that there are hardly any four bedroomed houses in the area for sale Wow'd at the rooms and then checked the house prices in the area to give me a valuation, although none were like mine. He has potentially underpriced my home by 50K. After we parted ways, I gave this some thought, the PB agents are self employed, they like quick sales regardless of the sellers point of view, to the point I wondered if he wanted it himself as the price was equivialent to a two bed flat than a four bed house. Shocking, I think PB are not the go to online agent if you are selling.

Sep 20, 2019Oh dear. I'm currently looking for a property in London. I'm a cash buyer and hoping to buy for approx £900k to £1m. When I see a new place come up on Right Move my heart sinks when it's being sold through PB (something like 20% of properties in London). What is the MATTER with you people (vendors)? PB actually put the vendor and purchaser in touch (swapping emails and even mobile phone numbers) without asking consent. The last thing I ever want to do here is talk to the abominably thick and naive people who have left the above comments. "OOh, never realised it was a scam" ... "OOh, I risk losing a £1000 fee"... "OOH, I signed something without reading it properly". HELLO??? We're talking about transactions in their 00s of 000s of £ here. Conventional estate agents can be talked down to less than 1% in most cases, because they're usually desperate for business. How childish do you have to be to calculate how much 1% is in terms of £, shillings and pence? The chances are extremely high that a good EA will get you a good buyer who will pay more than 1% more than the highest offer from a PB buyer you would otherwise get. YOU'RE ALL NAIVE AS 4-YEAR-OLD KIDS. NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS AWFUL COMPANY. As a buyer I really really resent it if someone is selling through PB, and try with all my might to steer clear, because I know the buyer is going to be an EFFING IDIOT.

May 29, 2020I completely agree, they are terrible. Cant get hold of the agent and they sent one viewer round in the first 3 weeks and that was it! No communication at all. It's been over a year and now they are chasing payment for doing an advert and sending one viewer round! Awful! Don't go with them!! Can someone please tell me how to go to the onbudsman? I am furious with this so called company!

Jul 10, 2020I feel so sorry for anyone that uses PurpleBricks. Yes, you save money advertising, but how much money are you leaving on the table? I placed an offer for a house and was told that someone would be in contact to negotiate. Having nothing to sell, I was in a good position. However, no one did, it was sold and I was willing to pay £5k over asking, but was never contacted.

Aug 26, 2020Absolutely awful bunch of lazy liars., Currently going through it at the moment. You basically are paying To advertise on right move and thats it. They do nothing for you. Cost me a lot of money by not following up on anything. Then assigned to the terrible Premier Property Lawyers (don’t touch them with a stick ), who late into proceedings informed us they couldn’t actually act for us on purchasing a smallholding....then they failed to pass on half the paperwork to the new solicitor. I would not recommend PB to anyone. You get what you pay for. Pay a bit more and hopefully you will get an estate agent that actually does something for their money. I have to say though, the other estate agents in the chain I felt were equally as useless and to blame for it all falling through last time .

Sep 15, 2020I am in the same position them since we foolishly signed on their website in May 2020. Their salesman was incompetent and gave bad advice. The website is misleading and like all others on here we were unable to talk to anyone - they never return calls nor do they update their portal. They have only responded since I made an official complaint. We have now reached the point where soon they will be seeking their "defered payment" and I feel like they will have to sue to me and let the Court decide. Purplebricks have been reported many times and are known to the TPOS - who incidentally in 2017 were quoted as "happy" with their deferred payment scheme following a BBC Watchdog investigation which is rather worrying for anyone thinking of reporting them to TPOS. I have been told my TPOS that they are "impartial" but as they are not a regulator there is little there they can do other than investigate and rule on whether issues of service (or in my case lack of!!) Has anyone ever been successful in not paying their fees? i was so stressed that I even offered them £1300 full and final which they refused. They offered me a £150 reduction (joke) and and a free ad in Rightmove (or similar). So we are in stalemate. I simply do not want anything to do with them. They mislead people with their adverts (which they have recently had to change per ASA involvement) and by their "sales" agents who are inexperienced and incompetent and who you can't get in touch with once you've clicked you agree to the T&C's . Help!!!

Sep 17, 2020I am buying a property being sold by purple brick's - there has been nothing but problems from the time the solicitors / conveyancer became involved - no communication other than myself and the seller we me having to respond to my solicitors question by contacting the seller and reporting back. to make it worst my seller was buying a property from purple bricks meaning the chain of communication did not exist for the legal side of the transaction, ive spent days chasing the paper work to allow the sale to proceed and as a final insult and blow the conveyancer for my sellers seller is not responding to the exchange request - calls going to voice mail if you do get through being told they are to busy today to proceed - Do Not use purple bricks or online conveyance firms / do not buy from people selling through purple bricks unless you want problems

Oct 17, 2020I made an offer on a property which was accepted on 21 June 20, the client who is selling the property stated Purple Bricks insisted the seller would have to go through there recommended solicitor Birchallblackpburn.co.uk, my solicitor again requested information 4 weeks ago and still has not received anything, after 17 weeks I am withdrawing my offer, as I find Purple Bricks incompetent of the sale of houses.

Jan 7, 2021Had a very bad experience with the seller’s agency purple bricks. Was gonna purchase a house came through them that failed! Alway had to chase them but got nothing back for near 4 months and my agent had to contact to the seller them selves and been told they were not gonna make this sale anymore! Again, during this period, we heard nothing from their agency Purple bricks! Terrible!!!!!
By : Leah Keyworth
Jan 29, 2021Purple bricks was ok but the solicitor that you have to use were a nightmare. Cook Taylor Woodhouse assigned someone called Jason to do the conveyancing. Basically in 5 months, he did nothing and the buyer pulled out. He never called us back; lied; blamed everyone else, including ourselves. We was told our conveyancing would be fast tracked; however 4 weeks later, the buyer still had nothing at all from these solicitors!!! He pulled out and actually was in the process of buying another house when we finally found out he had pulled out! Guess that what happens when you wont communicate with the other solicitor or even ourselves. This bloke is incompetent and shouldn't be working in this field. If he did this to us; how many other people has he done this too and lost people and the company thousands. A letter of complaint has been sent and considering contacting the Legal Ombusman about this.

Feb 8, 2021Bunch of unprofessional people encouraging bad practices and bidding wars costing people lots of money and unnecessary stress Disgusting I wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy

Apr 26, 2021I had my house on the market with purple bricks, firstly it took them 4 months to re-do the pictures of the house as I wasn’t happy, I kept asking them to come in the summer they turned up in late November pictures weren’t good. In two years I had 3 people through the door, every other week he was on me to drop the price , he kept saying it’s the market round here it’s slow blah blah- no mr purple bricks it’s you- I stopped taking his calls and would only communicate through text or voice notes, I have never heard so much bull in all my life- I put on with another agent and had offers straight away- sadly Purple bricks really don’t care they get there money what ever, it’s a portal business that I am sure my grandchild could build better and it’s not user friendly- I sold before which purple bricks and that experience was better but when I left feed back about my dealings with, the agent got all upset and demanded I took the feedback off which I didn’t of course. But they are not property experts they haven’t got a clue what the market doing or even how much your house is worth you have to come up with the price. I would advise to avoid there are much better agents out there that don’t need to advertise on tv because the reputation is good- waste of money houses sell whatever if someone wants it- local agents might cost more but they are certainly better

May 2, 2021I am disgusted at purplepricks attemps to encourage bidding wars. I have formally written the the appropriate Ombudsman after consulting with a Solicitor and reviewing their Code Of Practice. Heavy fines beckon me thinks.

Jun 7, 2021Thanks to an in professional Purple Bricks' agent, I stuck in the Sale of my house, despite ALL buyers make a full offer on the same day or next day after viewing. And, despite my house is not sold, I had to pay nearly £3,000. WHY????
By : Tareq Ahmed-Moneeb
Jul 7, 2021What a waste of money, could not sell in 3 months. Instructed a local agent and sold on first viewing. Were impressed by the valuer, most thorough out of all but the viewing agent did not know what day of the week it was. Some how didn't know we would take an offer, 3 months in we found this out. Absolute rubbish, the H/O said most dont take offers....more rubbish. I was an estate agent for 3 years and never met a vendor who wouldn't. They are criminal DO NOT USE
By : Joanne Burton
Sep 6, 2021Don't use Purple Bricks. Waste of time. Had to retake our own photos, write up our own key features, correct the address and then there no contact from them from that point on..!! Once they've signed you up, their commission is guaranteed and they dont give a s*** about you after that. They cant even get the value of your house right. Complete joke of a company.
By : Craig Reid
Sep 28, 2021Of course the real key to the value of any property is the Home Report or Survey price, this seems to be missing from the above. An agent can ask for any price but a lender will be restricted by the Valuatioin.

Nov 11, 2021Useless company absolute scam artists, just chuck it on right move and thats it, dont waste your time or money, One year on NO sale, 7 days with local agent SOLD, they lie, they do not do anything they say, So called complaints advisors are rude and unprofessional, Ombudsmen's granted complete failure on them with my case award maximum compensation and even said shouldn't pay them a thing, THEY DO NOTHING, DO NOT USE, or WASTE YYOUR TIME

Sep 28, 2023They told me if after 10 months there was no sale I didn’t have to pay. Now they sent me a bill for 4,280 pounds . They kept changing agents and didn’t hear from them for months . At one point I had to do the viewing myself because the agent kept changing they would come to my house knowing anything about the property. Can anyone advise me how to get out of this 10 month’s contract. I can’t pay that fee. It’s ridiculous to have to pay 4,280 pounds and they lied telling me after the 10 months I didn’t have to make a payment. Please anyone here have any advice for me
