The moving process is always stressful so one does what is possible to have things done in time and with no rush.
Started the renting process for a studio flat and everything went well during references and payments.
I was offered a studio flat with contract and confirmed move in date for then to be told, 2 working days before the move in date that the previous tenant does not want to vacate anymore.
I understand this might not necessarily be the agents fault specifically but agencies/agents are aware of the fact that this can happened and they shouldn't offer properties for rent before having legal possession of the property from the previous tenant.
Now I am left to find another property to rent with very short time left to go through the references process and no compensation offered for the fact that they had to take their offer down. If I was to decide to not go through the renting process anymore for any reason I would have lost the holding deposit but not for them I see.
Future tenants want to have the assurance they will have a place to move into as promised as much as landlords want to have the assurance tenants will not change their mind.
I will advise anyone to not go through a renting process with cool cribs unless the property is already vacant or you will find yourself on the streets and what you'll get is an apology.

Cool Cribs is unprofessional and routinely provides false information, either knowingly or out of sloppiness. My husband and I rented a flat through this agency years ago. The viewing was fine, but once I had questions, Albert could not tell me the right amount of weekly rent (I had to correct him, based on my memory). He specified that the TV license was included in the rent (it was not) and that wifi was included (which it was, but only very, very limited data volume per month, which was used up after 2 days of normal browsing). When we signed the contract, I was one week away from finishing my postgraduate degree. As I thus still counted as a student, Albert advised us to not include me in the contract, but to add me later on. He did not inform us that this would result in additional charges for a second set of keys (as I obviously lived with my husband), or that we would be charged 100 pounds to add me to the contract later on. The flat is now back on the market. It was posted twice - first with pictures from another apartment in the same building which has more light, then with old pictures that do not adequately portray the condition of the apartment. The ad also specified that gas bills are included in the rent (the building has no gas) and that the windows are double glazed (the windows are very old and drafty, and have probably been there since long before double glazing was invented). We are outraged by the quality of the non-existent service they provided. In fact, they charged an expensive fee for misleading information, for which we ended up paying extra. Moving to a new flat has a big impact on one's life, not only in monetary terms, but also in terms of stress. Cool Cribs has clearly not realised their responsibility that their disservice can cause.
