The initial viewing of the property was a pleasant and surprisingly good experience. From there, both my wife and I have had consistently poor communications with the office.
On deciding that we wished to proceed with the tenancy, we have encountered problems understanding the process and am left feeling as though we are being ripped off. The application forms came through in PDF electronic format (therefore unable to edit) and required a signature. This meant dropping through the manually written application by hand.
The fees involved with the agreement are not justified and seem rather arbitrary. £96 for this, £96 for that (which they also charge the landlord), 2 months rent as deposit because of our dog, £120 for referencing. When I emailed the query, I was not met with a written response as requested. Instead a phone call from Guy who proceeded to read the email (as if it was being read for the first time) and just reel off company policy without actually explaining anything.
Once the forms were submitted, we were then told that there was an outstanding fees document that we should have submitted. We have never seen this document before and will involve another trip to drop off a signed document. This document is also riddled with errors - 6 months contract instead of the 12 months agreed etc.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Treat others as you would expect to be treated yourself.
