If this was the last letting agent in London, and there was no other way to rent - I would prefer to stay homeless! Yes it is that bad. Stay away as far as you can from this disgraceful agency that is putting a label and a black spot to the hole industry sector! We had rented a 2 bed flat with them for 1.5 years where we had ONLY troubles. We have signed a contract for a furnished property - we've got a semi-furnished one. Very poor communication with them on all levels. Their managing director advised us to put our clothes in a suitcase and leave like that in a flat we were paying 1.4k a month! We was delayed with 1 week on our move in because of the lack of furniture and guess what? NO compensations at all, despite the fact we've sent a letter to Marlyn and his Director. They don't care about you... only about your £££!
Square Mile is not even a company, it is a trade mark part of Thames view group - a profit driven company that does not care of customer satisfaction or what so ever.
During our stay we had to call the Tower Hamlets environmental health & protection services to help because they refused to remove a potential hazard in the apartment in a room where we were supposed to rise a child.
When you sing in a contract with them you are expected to pay for the checkout report where the landlord is paying for check in. On your move-in you should expect a rookie! The guy have missed to add so many things that at the end they had to completely amend the report after we filed millions of changes. It toked my wife 2 days to make a picture and note of everything this bloke missed. On your checkout however you should expect a nice looking gentleman in a suit who will turn every stone in the property trying to find something to write down, so that they can file a claim against your deposit. Make sure you write down EVERYTHING on your move in with a lot of pictures, and don't expect them to be nice on your move out. Everything needs to be written, their staff is coming and going literary every day, so if you have an arrangement with someone on the phone, next week you could end up talking with another person who doesn't know anything about it and it doesn't give a "thing" of your arrangements.
Now few names behind this story:
Georgina Lewis - our letting consultant who promissed that everything will be furnished, and at the end she just dissapeared after everything was messed up.
Jim Fryer - the managing director of the branch - the person who advised us to put our clothes in a suitcase and live like dogs, but to continue paying our rents and to stop complaining.
Marilyn Plews - head of customer services who doesn't really give a thing about the customers. The only thing he do is to take one of his predefined answers and paste it on email or here. ZERO support from him as well.
And Dear Marylin,
there is no need to write down the usual "I'm so sorry, what can I do" reply. We all know that this has 0 value to anyone.
The truth is that there is nothing you can do, because your managers are the ones who doesn't care and look only on their annual reports and balance sheets.
Cheers!
Kamen Sharlandjiev,
Ex tenant of 37 Horseshoe Close, E14 3EP.
Comment on agent fees
They are more expensive than well established big agencies... but the service in return is an absolute JOKE!
