I'm not generally in the business of leaving bad reviews but this company really are awful. Firstly, I'd imagine we are some of the best tenants a landlord could hope for. Both professional people while my partner is bordering on ocd when it comes to cleanliness. We rented for almost 2 years and always paid on time and only had to make contact a couple of times to sort issues out. Whenever you do contact them they are plain rude as others have said and will mostly just ignore you. They lie and make it sound like it's your fault whenever you chase. I don't think I've ever had to give a single company my email address as many times as Dorset lettings have asked for mine yet emails still aren't forthcoming. They make out they are very professional to begin with but I would stress they are the only agents that have ever left me without a gas certificate, and did so for some months. We moved out 26th June and today is 15th July and we still haven't had a penny of our deposit back. It's the 5th property I've rented through an agent and the first time anyone has made any deductions. They only want to deduct £70 for what I would call some very very minor things but having paid 10s of thousands in rent over 2 years it leaves you with a very bitter taste. They made no allowances for wear and tear at all and the invoice they have sent me for the additional cleaning is definitely fake. I know this as its dated the same day as the inventory check was done yet says it was quoted prior. I also know from an old neighbour that no one visited the property that day. With the things that allegedly needed doing on the inventory you would be looking at 1 hour max anyway so the charge is extortionate. We left the place immaculate. After seeking advice we agreed to the deductions anyway as any deductions less than £100 will cost us money to appeal which is something they clearly exploit. In spite of this we are still waiting for the cheque for the remainder of the deposit. The fact we are still waiting is either testament to their unprofessionalism or their maliciousness whatever way you look at it. I tried to be as amenable as possible when it came to viewings once we'd given notice, even letting them do one with less than 10mins notice. They on the other hand would arrange other viewings and then just not turn up, at the end of one of the viewings I went round the property with one of the agents showing a few areas of concern to try and ensure we left the property in good condition. She agreed with me on a lot of the issues and was going to speak to the property manager who I never heard from apart from a generic letter telling me we were contractually obliged to have the carpets and the oven professionally cleaned and provide receipts (on checking our contract we weren't). So in the end we repainted half the property ourselves - This shows the extent we went to to make sure the property was left in good condition yet Dorset lettings don't even have the courtesy to respond to any kind of enquiry. Landlords should avoid as good tenants don't rent from them twice, especially as their fees are by far the highest in the area for tenants to begin with.
