Terrible experience. Was charged a higher estate agents fee for selling my property because i found them through GetAgent and the agent, although they did sell the home, was one of the worst ive used. GetAgent also just didnt pay the £212.50 cashback they promised when you complete the sale which is extremely dishonest. All round awful experience wasting me thousands of pounds and i really wish i'd found an agent anywhere else instead.

GetAgent claims that they provide 'impartial recommendations' on their website, however, this is not true.

According to the site, in order to find out who is the best in the area, you have to register your details. They claim that they are unable to show the agent's names and fees publicly, however, this is simply untrue.

The real reason they don't show these details is that:

1. They want to capture YOUR full details
2. They don't even have many of the agents' fees listed. This is explained later.
Now the reason why they want to capture your details is simply so that can try and influence you to use an agent or conveyancer that pays them a fee. This is rather alarming as on one hand they are claiming to be impartial, however on the other hand there are using this to influence you to use an agent that you never enquired out. Worse still, this could be regarded as 'price fixing' by the CMA which is illegal and could result in massive fines for any agent if found to be true.

Even if you request to contact the top agent on their page, Getagent will NOT pass your details on. They will simply contact the agency informing them to pay a fee (2.5%+VAT) to them. If the agent refuses, then they will come back informing you that they are unable to work with the agent and encourage you to work with another agent that will pay them a fee

Most agents that do use pay them a fee refuse to disclose their fees on their site. This is because if they do agree to accept the lead, many have to increase their fee to you in order to cover it (£750 on a £250,000 property sale). This fee is tracked the minute your lead is passed to the estate agent. So even if you subsequently decide to contact the firm directly in a months' time, this fee will still be payable to Getagent.
One other important aspect. Contrary to what they claim. Getagent DO NOT cover and analyse the whole estate agent market on their site. list or work with online fixed price low-cost agents like Purplebricks and Strike. This is because they are unable to make a fee from them.

If you want to find the best agents at the best price, compare them on Rightmove and Zoopla. These websites will have all the low-cost fixed-priced agents listed. They charge agents a monthly subscription irrespective of how many leads are sent, so you will be able to negotiate a much better price by cutting out this so-called comparison website

This company is shocking! They charge estate agents a 0.25% fee on the property sale, however, they are now encouraging consumers to lie to agents in order to get a better deal!

Most agents typically have to build this into their fee when they quote you, so

If you enquire to an agent via their website, the agent is BOUND to pay them this fee even if you don't sign up straight away, so if you want a better deal, go directly to the agent and cut out GetAgents fee!
