No frills, straight forward, value it, put it to market and sell it - simple job done

Without any doubt the team at Stags have been exceptional over the years in managing our Mill House on The River Dart. As a Buyer, not a seller, of a house through Stags Totnes I was amazed at how James worked so hard to make things happen. He was in contact numerous times with updates on the sale/purchase. Stags was recommended to me as being the best agent by a successful businessman/ friend in the South Hams. James Baker, Associate Partner, Manager Stags Totnes, proved to be easy and reassuring to deal with, having a realistic grip on the market and ultimately advising the best way to sell the property given its particularities (and the owners'!). Successfully sold at auction for a reasonable figure in a flat market. Certainly would recommend and use Stags/James again without hesitation.

We agreed a cash purchase of a property in South Devon and agreed to exchange within 3 weeks if the agent stopped marketing the property. 8 days later we arrived at the property to find that the 'For Sale' board was still up and the property was still being marketed on Rightmove and the agents own website despite having emailed and asking them to remove it. When we phoned and spoke to Linda, she screamed at us over the phone and said that 'she doubted we had the funds to complete the transaction'. We spoke to the manager James whilst we could hear Linda wailing in the background of the call, he made no apology nor did he attempt to get the board taken down. Instead the vendor had to ask a neighbour to remove the board and called 3 times to the agent to tell them to remove it from their website. There is something very unhelpful, rude and suspicious about an agent that behaves in this way: they are either extremely disorganised and incompetent or just a bunch of cowboys. We exchanged in 3 weeks as we had said we would despite the agent's unhelpfulness - we liaised directly with the owner throughout the course of the transaction and things went very smoothly. It is a great shame as we have a long standing and good relationship with Stags in Honiton and Bridport and feel that we are unlikely to use them again.

The house we are purchasing required more than the average number of visits for various surveys etc and they were always incredibly accommodating even at short notice. Whilst we appreciated their primary role was to represent the needs of their clients (the owners) we felt they were receptive and understanding of our needs also. They did a good job as conduit between both parties and were influential in facilitating the successful purchase of the property despite a few unexpected hurdles along the way.

We also had a purchase agreed previously through this office on another property, which we had to withdraw from through no fault of the agents. They handled that situation well too.
