I had agreed to act as a guarantor for my daughter, who is renting a property in London. The agent used Goodlord for the guarantor referencing process. It\'s been three weeks of back-and-forth with their unnecessarily complicated process. While we were on holiday and I didn’t have access to my payslips, I agreed to verify my income via open banking. However, due to further verification required by my bank, I was unable to proceed.
Upon returning from holiday, I verified my income through HMRC, but Goodlord did not accept this. Their chatbot has been bombarding me with multiple messages a day, insisting on open banking verification. Reluctantly, after consulting with my bank, I granted access to open banking, even though I was uncomfortable sharing such sensitive and personal financial information.
Now, despite having access to my HMRC records, payslips, and an email from my contracting agency that pays me, Goodlord is demanding a signed contract from my company. As a subcontractor who works on various contracts with different companies, this request is completely unreasonable. They already have sufficient proof of my ability to support my daughter.
This process has been absolutely ridiculous. Isn\'t their role simply to verify that I am financially capable of supporting my daughter? What a sham company—it\'s utterly bonkers!
