Cairn was founded by David Rowand in 1999 when, having been involved in property for more than 20 years, he realised there existed a tremendous opportunity to establish a company that could be much more than ‘just an estate agent’.
Founded to address a distinct lack of agents in the marketplace providing a team of informed experts able to provide a personal service, Cairn began as a development company, refurbishing properties to sell on behalf of clients.
As this aspect of the business grew, several clients retained the firm’s services and sought a broader range of advice. This led Cairn into ‘sourcing’ properties for clients and developing properties on their behalf; a service which soon became an integral aspect of the business by removing the hassle factor from finding properties and developing them before selling or letting them on its clients’ behalf.
This was the key that developed other aspects of the business, such as a maintenance team created to deliver these services which now comprises builders, plumbers, electricians, tilers and plasterers.
A letting division was then formed, which now manages some 400 units. The letting staff boast a wealth of experience and knowledge. Delivering a high level of service to landlords and tenants alike, they provide a fully-managed option and tenant-finding service, once again relieving clients of any hassle associated with the management of their investments.
The firm also has experienced staff on hand to handle HMO (House of Multiple Occupancy) enquiries and to help guide clients through this complex process.

What agent could do to change your mind?
The agent and owner could have been honest,and returned calls,and put proper veted people into these houses,they could have carried out repairs more promptly and professionally,and kept the tenant happy as he is the paying customer who pays there wages,honesty reliability and professionalism. What agent could do to change your mind?
Cairn's business model seems to be to get the tenant to do all the work for them--and yell at tenants who ask them to, for example, share information amongst themselves instead of having three people phone with the exact same question. The only way I could consider using this agency again would be a complete change of ownership and staff.Attached Filesnbsp;
