Just had our contract cancelled by RTA themselves as they said it was ‘no longer financially viable for them to continue to advertise our business’. They came and valued our business about 4/5 years ago. The sales guy told us the ‘supposed’ value of our business. I have had identical experiences to lots of people on this forum. A rushed meeting, then a please sign here just so we have your details correct, etc. I was only interested in getting a valuation for my business. Then a couple of days later the business was listed for sale on their site. This was Feb 19. Absolute conmen. They took the agreement away without leaving me the carbon copy and then sent me the carbon copy in the post - with their staff having made amendments to the agreement without my consent. Now they have sent me a bill for £3k for not providing an energy certificate - I told them I'm not willing to do any business with them at all and do they send me this bill. ...

Thank you. I didn't realise it had come across like that. I think they took us to court in 2003/2004 and these types of forums weren't around so much so we were unaware that they were doing this on such a massive scale. The judgement went in their favour because we'd signed their form without reading the small print and as a business you're not protected by consumer law which is what needs to change I think. Outrageous. Why do we pay them up front 30%? No one else does this, ever. This is not standard practice anywhere, but it does tie you to them, just how they like it. And when you sign, you awake from a mysterious ghostly moment, and then realise what you have just done.
