WALK AWAY NOW if you can - Inflexible agency that treat tenants like children. They want students to que up all night to get a property is inhumane and they rush students into signing up. They are very slow to make any repairs and are extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. Tom made the whole check-out process a nightmare, trying to charge for damage that was there are the start of the tenancy. WALK AWAY NOW !!

Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear that you have been unhappy with your recent experience; our intention is not to be unhelpful or to treat tenants like children. Our check-out process is based on the inventory which is signed by the tenant at the start of the tenancy and so unless items are marked as damaged then I'm afraid it is reasonable to assume that the damage was caused during the tenancy. If you would like to discuss this matter further you could email me (victoria.lyall@finderskeepers.co.uk) with your details and I can get the Office Manager to contact you?
I would also like to state that every year we absolutely discourage students from queuing up for the release of The List. We advise online ahead of time that queuing is not necessary and we also advise them face to face when they start to queue.

Safeguarding neglect: Allowing contractors to access rental property without properly notifying tenants. In one case a female tenant was alone in the property and exited her bedroom to discover a complete stranger (male) standing in the hallway - this turned out to be a contractor who had been given access to the property by FK. FK claims the contractor is responsible for notifying tenants, however the contractor had incorrect contact information from FK. Failure to keep proper records and to update paperwork correctly: Incorrectly advising tenants of their monthly direct debits causing a deficit to be allowed to accumulate over several before correction was made and demand for recompense. When complaints are/were made they are/were met with a level of arrogant defensiveness that is/was unprofessional.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Charge way to high for deposit. Expect us to pay way too much to tidy the house etc afterwards before we can get money back... We are students and cannot afford this!

When we first tried to sort our house they took ages to send it through and then rushed us (gave us the very maximum of a week) to get everything back which was difficult as it was during a time I was not in the country but they were not leaning on this. On multiple occasions they have taken my rent out twice from my account despite me pointing this out the first time it happened. I was backpacking on one time and had limited Internet and very limited access to phones. I emailed and got housemate to ring them and they refused to do anything until the spoke to me on the phone. Leaving me with very very low funds in a foreign country despite it being there error!!! One of the woman in the office never seems like she knows what is going on, Alec is usually the most on the ball.

Finders Keepers main aim seems to be to extract every last possible bit of money from their tenants as possible. They understand nothing about customer service - and are only motivated by grabbing your cash. They charge huge fees for absolutely everything and extracting your deposit from them in tact at end of your tenancy is virtually impossible. The spotlessly cleaned apartment we left (we hired professional cleaners) was still subject to spurious cleaning charges!
The flat we rented from them in Iffley (Oxford) was a horrible, damp moldy place. We viewed it in Summer when it had been newly painted (and the mold was disguised) -but as soon as the weather became cooler the mold and damp was appalling. Finder's Keepers were very unsympathetic to this and still charged us a fee of $1320 to break the tenancy agreement and leave the property. The mold was again patched over and the flat has now been rented to new tenants (at a reduced rate).
I would never rent a property from Finder's Keepers ever again and I strongly advise you to do the same.

Me and my fiancee were looking for a flat or house to rent recently. We are new to Oxford, just moved in from London. We are foreigners, BUT legal to work in UK, employed full time with a documented history of 6 years of employment and rental with no breaks in UK. We've visited Sommertown branch of Findrs Keepers on a Saturday. We have asked if they had any properties available to rent for up to £1000 bugdet. We were presented with a property that was £200 over our budget and told there is nothing else. Our names and numbers were input into the computer (well, at least so it seemed) and they told us that we will be contacted if anything becomes available an time soon. It has been three weeks, we have found a beautiful house with another agency, but Finders Keepers have not got back to us via phone OR email even once. I had an impression that they were not interested in helping us from the very beginning. I just hope they don't like to work on Saturdays and there is no other cause for treating us this way. Most uncomfortable customer service experience in my life.

For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
