Connells are absolutely shameful in the way they treat their investment buyers (or any buyers, in that case)! Avoid them like the plague if possible, there are more professional agents out there.
We found a house we liked and although they told us there were 2 offers on the property already, we could still view it. So we sent a family member as it was a weekday as we were both working.
We made an offer and they asked us to provide all the paperwork, once we emailed them everything they needed, we still had not heard back. My husband called them a few times but they did not have an answer for us so we were left in the dark, luckily not literally!
The first weekend thereafter, we arranged a viewing so we could see the house for ourselves, at the viewing we were surprised that there were an additional 3 other couples also viewing even though that morning, we received a letter in the post to say that our offer had been accepted. This was odd, given that no one bothered to make a call to tell us that!
I confronted the agent at the viewing asking him why they were still taking viewings if our offer was accepted, he lied as if he was unaware of this and tried to say that they are still allowed to carry on with viewings if all the paperwork a buyer provides was in complete. I informed him our paperwork was complete hence we had received a letter from them to say that our offer was accepted. His response was, we will look into this on Monday and someone will call you. It was obvious they were holding out for a higher offer.
The agent did not bother to call us so my husband called multiple times on Monday morning leaving messages, they were still making excuses and trying to fob us off. Eventually when they did call, they said another buyer had made a higher offer.
From start to finish, their customer service has been appalling; they are too greedy for their own good. Estate agents are often given a bad name, but these guys are in a league of their own, extremely unprofessional and behaved disgracefully towards us. We certainly will not be using them again and I doubt we will be the last.
