I honestly can't believe what has just happened to me or why Kings Group thought that this stunt would either a) work or b) ever make me want to do business with them.
They have a bogus property advertised on their website and also on Zoopla and Right Move. The listing has a picture of the exterior of a nice looking end terrace house on Belgrave Road, E17. I had asked to see more photos but none were available. I was surprised to see a property of this quality on without an open day and thought it was too good to be true. Shahad told me that an open day for this property was planned for the coming Saturday so this was a chance to "get in there quick" before anyone else.
On Zoopla and their website, it has a brief description underneath it and states that the property benefits from "a 50ft garden and no onward chain". Off I went for a viewing, a 1hr round trip. Waiting outside the house in the photo were two agents from Kings Group, Shahad (who I had spoken to on the phone several times) and another guy, who did all the talking.
On arrival they quickly walked me ten doors down to the other side of the road and we were stood outside another property, completely hideous and not the one advertised at all. I was instantly fuming and they said "oh sorry, that was the wrong picture" and "while you are here you might as well see this one" and so I asked if this had a 50ft garden? Is this an end terrace?
Once inside it was disgusting. A terraced house and former drug den by the look of things, outside there was a small concrete garden and the whole place was in a terrible state of repair.
I have no idea what Kings Group thought they would gain from this exercise but I asked them to remove me from their listings. Having read these reviews on my return there is no way I am doing business with them. Outrageous.
I phoned again on my return, the property listing is still online (as it has been for weeks) and they are clearly using this ruse to get people to see houses that they want to sell. Perhaps they think their silver tongues will persuade you.
Honestly, had I seen the actual property I saw listed with pictures at a fair price I may have gone to see it. Why is it only estate agents that think deceit is good business practise?
