The service I received from Alex and Zak was disgusting to say the least! Firstly I was interested in renting one of their properties in Birkby, when I met Helen at the property she was lovely. I explained my situation which was that I have lived in a rented property in Edgerton for over 2 years and have never been late with my rent. I explained that I work full time at Kirklees college and have done for a number of years. I also explained that I do not have a great credit rating due to my ex husband being served a CCJ which unfortunately affects my rating. I said I can provide a reference from my current landlord and character references from various professionals I have worked with etc. she said no problem, I will speak to the landlord and get back to you. I had no reply so I called the office. Zak or Alex spoke to me and was very rude. He talked to me as if I was a piece of scum and said his company will not deal with me unless I have a guarantor and 3 months rent up front. Well I am not lucky enough to have family who can be a guarantor. I came off the phone feeling very upset at the way he judged me without knowing my circumstances. I went away and found the money I would need for 3 months rent,bond plus I months rent in advance. I then called back regarding a property I had seen in Lindley. Again, he spoke to me as if I was a vagrant and this time saying I need 6 months rent up front and stated this is the case for all our properties! So not only did they judge me and spoke to me as if I was some kind of tramp but then lied to me also! I'm absolutely disgusted with them. I don't want anyone to feel the way I do and this is why I am writing my review.

I don’t believe my review was unjust in any way. The first property was in fact 'substandard'. Upon awareness of this was certainly not when you executed the tenancy. We were only told about the flooding after we had spent a while in your office after paying our first month’s rent and after handing us the keys. Unfortunately there are once again inaccuracies with this account and a number of factors left out to the benefit of 'John Doe' (may I mention at this time Martin & Co have not had a tenant named John Doe).
