House was lovely, interim inspections always went well but despite this upon leaving the property and after thoroughly cleaning it all, the agent proceeded to tell us that the property was dirty that items on the itinery were missing and that they would have to get industrial cleaners at £100 a day to clean it.
The items listed as missing were not in the house when we arrived and we will now be charged for them, they told us there were food and stains on a dining table we had never used, they told us the garage was untidy but it was exactly how we left it as we only used it to store OUR items.
We were also told that the garden was overgrown yet we had mowed it on the day off leaving (that must be some fast growing grass).
They tried to charge us for four missing pillows that were never there although upon leaving we actually left four pillows of our own thinking they were theirs.
Our bath had a leak on it while we were in the property and instead of charging them for a plumber my partner that is a plumber fixed it as a gesture of good will (we should think about charging them for this now...)
We felt degraded and that they were being unreasonable, we will never go with Mike Jolly' ever again and would not recommend them to anyone.

Have someone with you, sound as confident as you can, and just repeat "fair wear and tear". They are crooks.

Just make sure you take pictures of everything, and get someone to double check and give you their opinion on what the house looks like before you move in, hope it goes ok

Did anyone question the cleaning through the deposit protection scheme or did you just accept the estate agent views that the house was dirty and take a reduction in your deposit?

The same thing happened to us we got charged because they said the property was dirty (we hoovered and cleaned the property every other day), when I asked exactly what was dirty they said the inside of the washing machine and the shower because there were water marks on it. They also claimed there were marks on the carpet and it would take cleaners 2 full days at £10ph. When asked to see the photo's they showed us photos of the carpet but there were no marks on it they claimed "It doesn't show up very well on the photo but we've already cleaned it now".

We also got charged for the bins, we moved out on a Monday and bin day was Tuesday because they weren't empty for that one night they charged us even though the bins were full when we move in! I wouldn't recommend them to anyone go with a private Landlord

We are just about to leave a house rented through Mike Jollys and I am really frightened this is going to happen to us. Did the deposit protection scheme not give you any help or had you just not taken any pictures when you left the house?
