Dear all,

almost two months ago I moved out of a flat and soon after I sent proof that I had paid all my bills. Yet, more than two months have passed and I have yet not received my deposit back, nor an explanation for this. I've emailed and phoned NOPS more than 6 times and have either received no answer back, or received different answers from different people: that they would try to find out what was happening, that it was up to Bannits to pay, that they did not know what was happening... but the fact that my deposit hasn't been handed back to me, and that I've received no written or verbal attention with regards to why that is happening, remains.

My contract was handed on from Bannits to NOPS and since then I've been dealing with NOPS. This all generated a big confusion: for example, NOPS tried to change my payment date, despite the fact that it had been agreed with Bannits via a signed contract.

I also had heating problems during all Autumn and part of Winter (I moved out of the flat on 14 Jan 2014). They sent a contractor there 3 times, and in all occasions the conclusion was the same: the whole heating system had to be cleaned and, ideally, the boiler had to be changed (it was undersized). Yet NOPS did nothing about this... During this time I had 2 flus and 1 chest infection - while it is impossible to unequivocally blame the lack of heating, it is hard to think that these two things were not related. I had to borrow electric heaters and therefore payed a higher electricity bill. They provided no compensation for that.

I have never been treated so disrespectfully as a customer. I think that there service is terrible.

Although NOPS took over the management from Bannits we were not given any of the tenants' deposits to be returned. Bannits continue to hold all of the deposits for all of their properties.

At the end of a tenancy, we carry out the checkout and note down any deductions that may be required and then hand all of the information back to Bannits. I'm very sorry but we cannot explain why it took them so long to return your money.

We did ask you if we could change the payment date and we are very sorry if it caused confusion. We didn't mean to make you upset or angry. We were trying to pull everything together after taking on the properties.

With regard to your heating, our gas engineer had advised that a new boiler would be required. He said replacing the boiler was going to cause a lot of disruption for the tenants. We were very aware that you were all students so we followed his advice and carried out temporary repairs to the boiler until such time the property was vacant. We are very sorry if you felt this was the wrong decision. We can assure you that we were trying to be considerate.

Anyone reading this should ignore this review and refer to all the others, this is plainly written by one of their members of staff, NOPS have a poor reputation for a reason, and that is that they treat tenants like garbage. They rent properties belonging to one of the worst slum landlords operating in Oxford, a bumsplat by the name of Oliver Cohen who also calls himself the "Rent Guru" (look him up, he is a real piece of work).
