We have been with Whitegates for a month in the effort to sell our home. Terry came initially for the photos measurements etc and we were pleased with what he said. The branch had recently quickly sold a neighbouring property hence our asking them to mark set ours.
We have reduced twice, the second time today. We understand the dynamics of the market or at least try to, we want to sell as quickly as possible as we have family issues which make it a little harder for us to move than most. I rang the branch this morning having heard nothing from them of any substance, for a fortnight. We have had one viewing in a month incidentally.
After dialling the number and waiting to get through to sales, Judy answered the call ; I told her who I was and there was silence. I repeated my name and full address, still silence so I said you are selling our house which I hoped would prompt a hello, how are you response. I got, what is it that you want.
Bearing in mind our contact with branch staff has been less than minimal, I was very taken aback. But not before I was hastily moved on to Bernadette, who could help me.
She was helpful, if not a bit perplexed by my questions, but the purpose of my call was to clarify exactly what they are doing to market our house. A reasonable request my husband and I thought.
I should have come away from the call feeling on top of the world. I didn't particularly and we have today rethought our asking price. Terry did ring mid afternoon and explained the office was busy after the Easter break but I am disappointed with them nevertheless. It doesn't match the service we were expecting or are ultimately paying for.
We wanted our house sold quite aggressively and I'm not sure this is being done by Whitegates. All will be revealed in the next few weeks and if not we will take our business elsewhere.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Made sure that the office staff were informed of our individual circumstances and gone the extra mile to make us feel good about selling but more importantly making sure we are spoken to politely and respectfully.
