This is one of the worst agencies in Bristol. The agent that dealt with our property went so far as to promise us things that in the end we did not get. In particular, we were promised a garage which the agency did not put in the contract and thus the landlord didn't feel like emptying after we signed the contract. Continuing to the property itself, it was given to us in unacceptable condition (extremely dirty, mould on the walls, stains of sauces on sofas, black stains and wax on the carpets, broken wardrobe, mattresses with coils that hurt your body etc). The problems still remain as the agency's response was that we saw the property before we rent it. Of course when we saw the property, sofas were covered and we were told that cleaners would clean the place before we go in. The worst part of it was that one of the bedrooms had a broken window from day 1 of the tenancy! This was probably the only issue they addressed and to do so it took them almost two months! Meanwhile, there was scaffolding in front of the window which gave free access to anyone on the street. As if the problems we were facing were not enough, the agent that handled our property was often dismissive and in some cases rude (when he remembered to get back to us). Seemed that they only thing the agency cared was to be paid the rent without providing the services they were paid for. Even more, although we made it clear that we want to be present when someone enters the property, he would insist entering freely with the agency's extra key not respecting our privacy. After a series of arguments they said that we can leave the property if we give a month's warning. When asking to do so, we were told that they have already found new tenants to start when our contract was over and thus cannot let us off the contract. Seriously, this agency is a nightmare and would not recommend it to anyone.
What agent could do to change your mind?
The agent should have made sure that the property was in descent state (functional windows-furniture and clean) before renting it to people and not promised features that were not available. Also, should have responded to phone calls and emails and not ignored them. Finally, should not have given an offer without specifying the 'small letters'.
