To begin with we thought this agent was good as they booked our viewing in for the same day and took our admin fees and applications straight away. We thought we would move into the property quite quick too as we need to be out of our current house before 7th April due to extensive mould and damp which is making my asthma worse. We told them this and they said they'll sort it. Now this is where it gets messy. They never called us before the 7th to move in as they were waiting on references (fair enough) so we had to extend our current tenancy for another week. Now two weeks later I got a phone call today saying my partner and I do not meet their "requirements" which means they are saying that we can't afford to take on the property. We know we can afford this as the property we are in now is the same price and we have paid our rent on time and in full. No delays or set backs. They are now saying that I lied on the intial assessment on the phone as I said I earn 14 yearly. I did not say this. The person on the phone said these exact words "if you do not earn at least 14,000 a year then you will need a guarantor. Do you have one?" And I replied with "yes, my mom". They are now saying I will need to earn at least 15,000. Is it me or is someone not doing their job properly? Now after I put in my application (which clearly states my salary), two weeks later they say we are not fit. Now we need to be out of our current property this Saturday with nowhere to go so my partner and I are officially homeless and no one seems to care. Oh and I didn't mention the best part! After all that messing about they said we are not getting our holding and admin fees back. Now i think we deserve it as they have made a huge mistake on their end! Now I have read some reviews on here and it looks like a lot of people have been in a similar if not the same position as me. This company feels to me like a money grabbing scheme and I will be reporting this foul play to the right authorities!
What agent could do to change your mind?
They could have stopped their lying and helped us move into the property we wanted in the right time. We definitely can afford it and I can prove that I have paid the rent on time. My mom is the guarantor but no money has ever left her pocket for this house. My partner and I are excellent with our money but they wouldn't give us chance to prove it. Now by the weekend we won't have a roof over pur head and will end up on the streets as it is really short notice to get another place. I also want my money back in full as I feel this company is a money grabbing scheme.
