The very worst customer service experience that I have ever had.

This company will actively try and keep your deposit from you. Not only that but when we handed in our leaving notice, they lost it and wrote to us claiming we owed them rent. We physically handed it to them and they denied we received it.

While we were living in the flat we rented, they told us the landlord wanted to visit in an hour. We told them it wasn't convenient and it required 24 hours notice. They then made up a lie on the phone and said they had posted notice through our door the day before.

They ultimately made a stressful house move much more stressful.

AVOID this company like the plague. Horrible, horrible people.

We have respectfully requested that you contact our office. You may email [email protected] concerning your complaint and we will look into the matter for you. We are concerned that you were unaware of where your deposit was held when this is highlighted throughout your tenancy. Had you been a tenant of our company, this was have been clearly obvious to you. If you do not contact us to explaine your concern, we are unable to establish why you were not in knowledge of what was within your tenancy agreement that you would have read and signed agreeing to the terms of as indeed would your guarantor! We have reported our concern to All Agents

How dare you suggest that my review is false? What possible motive would I have for that?

This perfectly illustrates the arrogance and disregard of it's customers that your company shows.

What about all the other 1-star reviews on here? Are they all "false" and "mischief" too?

I was going to leave it at just this review but that has angered me so much that I will be leaving my review wherever I can. My review is 100% genuine.

The fact that you won't join the Transparent Agent Scheme says it all.

Dear PaulD, unfortunately we cannot give too much merit to your complaint and feel it is false and mischief. If you were a tenant of our company you would be fully aware that your deposit is with the TDS as this is clearly within your tenancy agreement. No member of staff would say your deposit would be withheld. Perhaps you can provide the name of the tenant you claim made this statement. We suggest you seek legal advice on this matter

By the way, as far as I know, our deposit was never registered with the TDS. In fact I never knew the TDS existed until our new agent told us. Sherlock Homes gave us no information about the TDS whatsoever.

When I mentioned this to Sherlock Homes, when I went to request the deposit back, they lied to me again and claimed we were given TDS information.

People need to be aware that if an agent does not register your deposit and give you the relevant TDS information then the tenant could claim a large sum in compensation.

I complained at the time and was ignored. In fact, one of your staff threatened to withhold my deposit if I continued with the complaint.

The office where this occurred was in Chorlton in Manchester.

I have no interest in having any more dealings with your company. I simply wanted to leave my review so that others can be warned of the type of company they are dealing with.

And let's be honest, I am yet to find a good review for your company. You are ranked almost bottom out of a list of 12,500 estate agents! So it isn't like my review is out of the ordinary.

The fact is that your company made moving house one of the most stressful experiences I have ever had. The estate agents we now have in our new property could not be nicer or more helpful.

Sort yourselves out and you will get good reviews.

There are numerous Sherlock Homes Estate Agents. As you have provided no information concerning your tenancy, or the members of staff that you have dealt with, nor have you provided your name, we are unable to look into your complaint. We have limited properties within the M28 postcode and can confirm that none of the tenants within these properties have vacated. We are therefore of the view that you have commented concerning the incorrect agency. If you believe your comments are correctly posted then we kindly request that you provide the essential information so that we may assist you and investigate your complaint fully. As you have failed to leave your name or any reference to a property it is impossible to investigate your complaint unfortunately. Please kindly contact us at [email protected] and provide the property you were a tenant at, your name, along with the members of staff that you state you have been dealing with and we will look into your complaint and revert back to you.
In reference to your comments concerning your deposit, as agent we do not benefit, gain or profit from the tenants deposit. Any deductions from a tenants deposit is transferred to the landlord in full. If you feel any deductions from your deposit not to be fair, please set out the reasons in writing as to why you dispute the charges and we will revert back to your landlord for their comments and instructions. Should your landlord refuse to refund any monies they believe fairly deducted, you may then raise a dispute with the TDS where your deposit is registered. Turning now to your notice to end your tenancy, please provide the receipt when you handed in your notice to end your tenancy confirming also the member of staff you dealt with, your notice will be taken from the date we received your notice. Alternatively please provide the name of the member of staff you handed your notice to and again we will look into your complaint. In relation to your comment regarding a member of staff requesting for the landlord to view the property without giving 24 hours notice, please again provide the name of the member of staff you were liaising with and we will again look into your complaint.
Please kindly understand that whilst we do take complaints seriously, we cannot look into any of the issues raised unless we are provided with the full information to include the members of staff you dealt with. Dear Michael. The agent does not profit nor gain from a tenants deposit. The balance goes to your landlord and it is your landlord who determines what is deducted from a tenants deposit. Equally your landlord insisted that you were kept to the terms of your tenancy. We note that this is disappointing but again as agent we have no say in such matters. As for repairs you state were delayed, unless essential or emergency repairs, the agent cannot proceed without the landlords authorisation. ...
