The tenant Haart put in my property used a fake identity, fake job reference and fake previous landlord reference and still managed to pass Haart's reference and credit checks. The tenant paid no rent once they had the keys, sublet the property by letting each individual room to a total of 8 people, causing severe damage. It cost me a significant amount of money to evict these people through the courts and restore the property to the same condition as before. Haart need a much stricter referencing process.
What agent could do to change your mind?
The agent was sympathetic but there was nothing they could really do once the tenant got in. They need to use a different company for referencing and have far stricter checks. I feel I should have received a full refund of fees paid, but still had to pay commission on the first rent received.

Thanks RC, I am happy to say that we have since changed the referencing company, We were very unfortunate to have a tenant provide false information and manage to squeeze through our checks. We know this does happen in our industry but this was the first and only time that something like this has happened through the Croydon office and I hope nothing like this will happen again. I do hope in the future we have the opportunity to work together and prove that this was a horrible one off. Thanks
