We entered into a contract with slater hogg (largs) in September 2009 for them to sell our home. It took five months for them to send our first viewer. After a year of very poor service, not keeping in contact with us, not keeping us informed of feedback from viewers, we decided to take our property off the market and informed them of the reason why, which to be honest, they weren't interested in taking our complaints seriously as we were cancelling our contract. Five months after we cancelled our contract with them, they telephoned to inform us that the first viewers we had were still interested in the property and would we be prepared to sell. My husband informed them in no uncertain terms that yes but only on the basis of them accepting a finders fee, not the original 1 1/2 % fee as we were not in a contract with them, they agreed and sent the potential buyers to our home. However the very next day, the area manager called and said that they would be expecting the original fee if the sale went through. Her behaviour on the phone was shocking to say the least. My husband was very civil to her, too civil in fact, but she was extremely rude and threatened court action. They have in no way earned any fee from us but as a gesture of goodwill we would have been prepared to give them a finders fee but not now. They are completely unprofessional. If need be, we will not proceed with the sale.
