Please avoid this letting agent.
Prior to moving out the agent showed two prospective tenants around the flat. On the first occasion I had been away from the flat for a week and returned to find the flat unlocked. It had therefore been left unlocked for a whole week. I complained and asked to speak to the manager who was unavailable. On the second occasion they showed a tenant around when I was again away for the weekend. I returned to find the flat unlocked again.
When I left, over £100 was deducted from my deposit. £60 to clean "the oven and grill" despite the fact the grill had never worked throughout me tenancy and the oven was as clean as when I moved in and £55 to repair a drawer. The drawer was from the cheapest piece of furniture imaginable. To buy the unit new would probably have cost half of that. I had never used the unit in question other than to put away some dirty duvets/blankets that had been left lying around by the letting agent. I do not believe I broke the drawer and firmly believe it was broken when opened by the agents to inspect it.
The initial readings on the inventory were also correct and after a week or so of moving in I was asking to pay a huge utility bill.
When I moved in they were unable to tell me the number of the parking bay allocated to the flat. I called them to ask and they promised they would call back, but of course they didn't. I had to walk down to the flat to ask in person.
Take particular not of the inventory. The clerk that showed me around and took the inventory missed numerous faults off which, had I not noted, I would no doubt have been expected to pay for. He missed for example stains to carpets, marks on the walls etc. He also missed noting a lethal step ladder that had anyone have used could have caused themselves a very serious injury. If you complain to him as with others in this agency you will find them dismissive, arrogant and condescending. Give their complete lack of professionalism and the disingenuous way in which they treat people it is impossible to imagine where their superior attitudes come from.
I complained to the agent and three times asked if they are a member of a professional body. Eventually, after the third time of asking, they said they are not - although that is hardly a surprise.
Do not use this agency!
What agent could do to change your mind?
I think the best way this agent could improve is either by shutting down or employing decent staff
