We first got onto the property ladder when we purchased from Douglas Allen Woodford Green in 2009. We were originally in the process of buying another property with the Douglas Allen Wanstead branch but were gazumped and were anxious to have dealings with them again. However on meeting Robin at our neighbours open house; he was friendly, approachable and straight to the point with how he could help us sell our lovely home we felt they were the right agent for us. We got the ball rolling with the sale the day after our second child was born. Branch manager Steve came to see us that weekend and was extremely helpful in explaining the process and giving us advice on how to declutter and show off the true beauty of the property. Within a few days he had arranged our first open house with around 10 potential buyers. We had a steady stream of interest over the next few weeks and actually received our first offer within the first few days, before pictures had even been published on the website. Being that we were relatively new to the process we were unsure at what stage we could start looking at properties. Steven, another member of the team, assured us that with a strong offer on the table we would be able to view properties and offer on them if necessary.
We then started looking at other properties around the area and found a property with the Ilford Douglas Allen branch that we felt had potential and offered on it. After some to-ing and fro-ing the offer was accepted though it was subject to a survey being booked. We were told at the time that they would continue viewings. We then hurried to secure our survey with a mortgage lender which was held up a little as the mortgage advisor at the Woodford branch had taken ill. We had asked the Woodford Branch to convey this to Nabeel whom we were dealing with at Ilford branch to make sure he was aware every step of the way. After some days I had called myself just to make sure he was aware of the situation and was told that there were now two additional offers that had been accepted and that the first to secure a survey would be able to buy the property. Myself and my husband found his tone on the phone rude, he would not answer calls or call back and though we had done our best to keep him up to speed with our mortgage process, he had not communicated to us that there were any further developments with that particular property. We ended up withdrawing our offer as we did not feel we could trust the Ilford branch to be honest and open with us during the process. Subsequently we started looking again and ruled out any properties that were for sale with Douglas Allen Ilford.
Douglas Allen Woodford however were extremely helpful with both our sale (with them) and our purchase (with another agent). Steve was very quick with responding to emails. The admin staff were quick with drafts of the brochure and making any amendments. Keith was able to liaise with our buyers and our solicitor to try and make sure we were all on the same page. Robin was also on hand if we had any queries, as well as Khalesha. Overall the Douglas Allen Woodford branch made selling our property very simple. They had a large amount of interested buyers, were able to generate lots of interest in the property and their brochures and photographer showcased the property and surrounding areas in all its glory. Overall we were very satisfied with our sale (property was put on the market mid October and we completed end of January) and wouldn't hesitate to have dealings with this particular branch again.
