In NOVEMBER 2013 we informed the landlord directly of a damp problem, serious damp and mould growing in the main bedroom where I sleep with my NEWBORN CHILD. We had a specialist come round and tell us that they had already been to the house nearly a year before when it was empty and told the landlord and agent of a recurring damp problem caused by poor ventilation in the property. We heard nothing so reported the damp to the agent in DECEMBER 2013. By February the damp is now everywhere. I have a newborn and an asthmatic 6 year old. You can imagine the effect this is having on them! It is now March, they have done NOTHING. They asked us to get a quote which we did - 6 weeks ago - for a ventilation system and window vents and were meant to be sending round a company to give another quote. The company has never come and looked at the work. We got a reply to one email asking for some details about the works which we provided 5 weeks ago. 4 weeks ago I chased up our quote and have had no reply. Today I have emailed and told them I am going to environmental health unless they do something today. I am furious, the house has had many minor issues since we moved in and we have fixed them all ourselves. The landlords contractor came to fix some issues and wrecked one of the carpets which has just been left. The bath was leaking which we fixed and supplied the part. We had to unblock the drain last week and discovered it was full of tile grout from the person who fitted the bathroom. The property is fully managed, what a joke. Our dishwasher was reported broken in May they have done nothing. The landlord attended announced in November to organise fixing the fence and the doorbell. You guessed correctly, it isn't fixed.
I would not recommend Martin and CO if you paid me. Such a shame as the staff I have dealt with are lovely, just have no interest to fix any issues, you would probably have good things to say if you rent through them and never have an issue, but they don't resolve any problems and damp and mould in my eyes is a very big problem.
What agent could do to change your mind?
They could have solved the issues in a timely fashion instead of doing nothing ignoring our emails and leaving us living in a house full of mould and damp

I have also found Martin & Co Caterham to be thoroughly unpleasant, highly unprofessional and completely dishonest. They have lied, cheated and stolen from me. I do not recommend them and advise using other agents
