This isn't everything, just a few notes from my Jan-Dec 2010 experience with Keatons - the most frustrating, awful, incompetent, rude and awful people I have EVER encountered. Literally.
- High admin rates at sign-up for which we received the worst service imaginable
- Offensively inaccurate inventory, making a significantly run-down house sound immaculate
- On sign-up they said they would replace one of the mattresses which was worn to nothing and stained (vomit and worse, vomit and worse, use your imagination). They later refused to replace it, blaming the landlord.
- Their reaction to us saying the TV aerial doesn't work: "Well you know sometimes that's the case, some people just kind of get on with it don't they"
- Their reaction to us complaining our ground floor windows don't lock: Send round some bloke with a ScrewFix Direct catalogue who says "Nah, there's no part for those windows mate"
- They LOST their copy of our keys, god only knows where. They then refused to pay for new locks
- No code given for our burglar alarm even after 2 months of constant asking via phone and email. Eventually we were broken in to having all our stuff nicked, at which point one of their ditzy staff went "oh wait here it is, it's on our system"
- Constantly told the person we need to talk to is "on holiday" or "taking a day off" and "they'll get back to you"
- They NEVER got back to us when they said they would
- Staff seemed to change around so much, no-one ever knew who we were or what we had previously talked about
- It's been well over a month since we moved out and still haven't got our deposit back
- They constantly blamed stuff on the Landlord even though it was clearly them being rubbish
Possibly the most important thing to note is that you will not see any of this coming. The office looks professional, and before you sign any contracts the staff seem friendly, polite, presentable and trustworthy.
