Put my Mum's place on the market in Jan 2010. Chose them due to being 'estate agent of the year'. What a load of rubbish.
Very slow. Hardly any feedback and never returned calls. After 8 months of having no joy we went multi agency and the place sold through other Agent within 6 weeks. The buyer, who was also on Cubitts books, had a call from them advising them not to buy as the roof was in need of repair and that they had a similar property to sell them. This was utter cobblers. Even up to the point of exchanging contracts, Cubitt were contacting my mum and trying to persuade her to take other viewings and allow a gazump on the other buyer. Totally underhand and bordering on illegal.
Also used their recommended Solicitors, Lewis Dick. Equally as bad. Very slow. Took them over 3 months to finalise the sale with no upper or lower chain. Bearing in mind that a previous buyer pulled out the day before exchanging, it should have been plain sailing the 2nd time round. Kept blaming the buyers solicitor for hodfing things up. Was not until I got a call direct from buyer that they were caught out and that they had been ready to exchange for quite a while. Nearly lost a 2nd buyer thanks to them.
Hard to prove anything but convinced they they were in it together as Cubitt lost out on the sale.
They also admitted they have deals with certain other agents in Chichester who split the commission when on Multi-agency. That was one of the reasons we didn't go with another of the agents they recommended. If you want a good agent in Chichester, use King and Chasemore (formerly known as Mann Counrtywide.
Please take my advise and avoid. They are the stereo-typical estate agent that give the trade a bad name.
