I'm a tenant of Jordan's and I work as an estate agent. I can confirm that if I or anyone in the company I work for conducted themselves in the manner that Jordan's as a company do so, we'd be fired. In fairness, I don't believe the staff are malicious but I do feel they need customer service training and implantation of effective working practices. Their lack of concern for the people effectively paying their wages is shocking, at best they are uninterested in any matter a tenant brings to them.
In my situation in the year I rented from them, every time I had to call or deal with them in branch was fraught with stress. When I initially signed my tenancy agreement they gave me a direct debit mandate with the wrong persons details which is a major breach of date protection, the person in the office when I signed up was not involved in lettings and provided all the wrong details/forms, they failed to set up my direct debit and advised that once the forms leave their office "it's no longer in their hands and they can't be blamed" and when my shower broke and I was without running water it took almost 3 weeks to be fixed.
They are a clear example of what can go wrong with a letting agents. The number of times I've rang to obtain further information from them about my tenancy agreement and they can't even get simple details like my name right is shocking.
Landlords - this agent will lose you valuable income as no tenant in their right mind wants to deal with such incompetence.
Contractors - rumor is they don't pay up on completion of works. I've no evidence of this but this is the rumor as per other reviews.
Prospective tenants - don't bother, find another letting agent or seek out a landlord directly.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Customer service training, keeping tenants and landlords betting informed during all stages. Being proactive about keeping tenants on thus making their own job easier.
