In the process of moving to a larger home in a more suitable position, I chose to rent a house through Davis Tate in Burghfield Common.
It all started to go wrong after I signed the agreement and transferred the deposit. After this, they informed me that the heating system did not work and gave me a choice of moving in a month later than planned, or stay with the original date at a reduced rent. Being that this phone call was one week away from moving, and all moving arrangements had been made, including the completion date of the house sale, I chose to stay with the original date at a reduced rate. This would also; I thought help start a good relationship with the landlord.
After moving into the property, and one week of stalling by the estate agents, I was eventually advised that there would not be a reduction because the landlord had spent a lot of money on the property.
Other problems are as follows:
They allowed tradesmen to enter the house for repairs without my permission on at least two occasions.
Inspections of the House were too frequent.
They later evicted me on the basis that the landlord did not want to risk having his house empty over the winter period, another illegal move from Davis Tate. They used Section 21 of the Housing Act for this purpose. This act was not meant for this purpose.
When I left the house, they tried to take money from the deposit on a false basis.
I always kept the house in good condition and paid my rent on time, so I am still confused as to why I was treated in such an unfair and illegal manner.
All points made are fully documented including my written compliant to Matthew Davis and his response.
