I am a agent to deal with everything for overseas families who come to stay in Edinburgh. One of my services is to arrange rather highend properties for them. I deal about 10 properties a year and have more than 10 years of experience in the field. I usually use other property agencies who I have good business relationship with. However, I opted for a new, Rettie, as my client chose their flat.
We experienced their disastrous maintenance service as soon as the family got the key. The boiler was not working. The maintenance manager's mob number was useless and that number was the only one we were given. My client and I phoned variety of their phone numbers so many times, left messages and emailed. Nothing happened. Next day was the same. You see, my wealthy client had paid 200 quids for 'Gold Service'!!!
I kept leaving messages on their phone to contact me with my mob number and send a workman to finish by 3pm. Then, a workman appeared at 3.15pm without a notice saying he was told to come after 3pm. My poor client with the language needed to collect her child from school. To let my client to book me, I needed to know when he was coming.
Second incident happened last week. My client arrived on a cold night from her country to spend the festive break with her child in Edinburgh. She found the boiler was not working again. I phoned the allocated maintenance manager, texted her and emailed her so many times but received no reply. I found the maintenance office was open on Sat til 2pm so phoned and emailed around 10am but no reply was received. The client and i went to the maintenance office at 2 India Street at 1.30pm, but it was closed. I phoned the number on their maintenance vans parked in front of the office but no one took the call. So, I arranged a 24 hour plumber from yellow pages.
On Monday around 9.30am, I phoned the maintenance manager's mob and left a message. Then, called their office, then, immediately, got through the maintenance manager!!! She blamed me as I failed to contact the office that should have open on Sat til 2pm. I explained that no one took my call on Sat but she didn't listen but just blaming me. Anyway, I requested a plumber to replace a small rubber part in a water pipe as it was leaking and the 24hr plumber advised us and asked her to let me know when the plumber is coming as I should have been booked by the client.
However, their work man phoned me to ask the address since he had not been informed by the maintenance manager! It was absurd!!! He said he was coming in 10mins but I was not available in such a short notice.The workman came to the flat but could not find the problem because no communication with my client. So, he left without doing anything.
I phoned the manager on her mob this morning again. Her recorded message was telling me that she was on her annual leave. So, I phoned the office, then, immediately I got the maintenance manager due to on her leave on the line!!! I explained but she told me she was going to phone the 24hr plumber to ask the situation and come back to me. It's nearly 6pm now but I have not heard from her.
That's Rettie's Gold Service for extra 200 quids!!!
Please avoid this letting agency at any cost!!!
