Extremely poor communication and customer service. The staff were all whispering whilst I went into the branch alone to sign my contract making me feel highly uncomfortable and intimidated. They hardly ever reply to my emails. Sarcastic and rude over the phone. They even sent me a letter through the post saying they'd "spoken to my landlord and they have agreed to lower your rent to £450pcm". When I emailed Martin&Co to thank them for this, it turns out the letter was an automated letter and was I was not in fact elligible for a rent decrease because Martin&Co only increase monthly rents, and do not lower them.

My only source of heating has not been working for 6 days now and they have still not arranged to send someone to fix it. One very angry customer! Looking forward to moving out of this flat and this contract in late December. Do not recommend one bit!!!

They're not worth my time, staff are rude and poor at their job.

I can deinately agree with that. Rude aggresive and sarcastic. I got my keys the same day i had to move in due to their inability to have the contract ready. The house was filthy sticky and smelly. The washing machine was not working, the windows need to bechanged as the rain and the wind is coming through. It said that the house was furnished and then they said it was a mistake-after i signed in .
They did not reply to my e-mails either and tey got me a wrong and old leetr box key and they had no idea where was the new one. Moreover i was waiting for over a month the gas/water etc measurements, calling them every day withthe answer that the building's management team cannot come to unlock the room. Apparently the measurements were in the same bulding , with an unlocked door. They just did not have any clue where was that and they were ling to me. I am trying to leave earlier as i have signed a 12 month contract :(

Comment on agent fees
Rent was very good, one of the only reasons we were interested in a property with them at all. In hindsight, the cheap rent was not worth the wasted time, money, effort and emotional trauma.

you have to go via the ombudsman, we had the same problem but they are regulated and the deposits are protected but it took a very long time ...

You must have broken your tenancy agreement to have paid to leave? Surely it's common sense you can't get your friends to move in and get your deposit back in one go? Did your friends have to wait until you had done an inventory for damages before they could move?! Sounds pretty normal to me? ...

It's interesting That Martin and Co see fit to discuss clients- past or present I don't know which - financial and employment status on a public forum...I'm sure that goes somewhere against data protection which they clearly state in their terms and conditions they will only share with the Credit Referencing agency and Landlord...slick move guys.
