I approached Benham and reeves after I saw an advert for property to rent within 3 hours of the advertisement.
After some normal hickups, which happes normally, I managed to see the property and liked it.
Till this moment everything was going very smooth ( as I haven't paid the any money ). After a discussion on phone , I paid the Holding deposit and filled a two page form with all the possible details the very next day after visiting the property ( must tell you that I went to see alone and no one from agency came ).
I was told this "respected" agent that I would get the confirmation once they talk to landlord within 5 days.
I paid the Holding deposite on 2nd day of month and I was supposed to move in on 16th day month.
Till 14th of the month , I dint get a single communication about what is the outcome about agent and landlord discussion.
During this period( between 2nd and 14th), I only sent 5 emails and called agent almost 8 times to find the outcome but this respected & very busy agent dint ever get time to update me about their discussion with landlord. They never called me to update any details and whenever I called I was told that they are awaiting a final confirmation from landlord and its almost confirmed as I'm the first person to put an offer. I was getting suspicious but you know bad outcome doesn't show its face till last moment.
Finally after my 3 calls and 1 email follow up in a single day on 14th of the month ,I receive an email saying that property is not available for me. ( dint even have the courtesy of calling me or suggesting any option ). I was left shocked and I have no place to move to 16th. My family was arriving on 16th morning and all the stuff was packed and I dint have any place to stay in next 2 days. I only can feel the pain I have to bear because of these idiots .
Please use your judgement when you deal with such unprofessional, unethical and mismanaged organization and their employees.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Agent need to learn
1) To protect his customer's interest
2) To manage his client expectations
3) to communicate timely and effectively
4) Support and understand client need
