Extremely disappointed and lost out on a house purchase due to their underhand tactics. Having made an offer I was approached three times telling me a higher offer had been received (really, or just bumping the price up?) I thus kept increasing my offer, asking each time" what happens next?". On what turned out to be the final call I asked if I was the highest bidder and was told that I was, so again I asked "what happens next? If someone comes back with higher bid will you contact me?" and I was told "absolutely yes!".

Needless to say I was called several hours later to be told someone else had outbid me and their offer had been accepted. They deny all wrong doing and insist they told me it was a 'final bid' - they did not ever say that and confirmed they would get back to me if higher offer was received. I asked if they taped their conversations, they said they don't need to, but obviously they DO need to or at least be more professional in their dealings and pay more attention to detail.

If you want to be out bid and disappointed then use them, if you want to buy your ideal home and avoid heartache don't! I have been shouted at down the phone by them denying their actions, but flummoxed every time I quote their words and actions back to tem (I kept meticulous notes)

They have acted unprofessionally and no one else should have to be treated like this by them, so I am going to report their actions to the ombudsman.
What agent could do to change your mind?
They needed to follow a professional standards and not tell you one thing but do another. Shouting at a customer is surely something that should put you out of business.
