We rented a house via Atkinson and Keene and were very disappointed with the service we got for the following reasons:
- Incredibly expensive: between 2 to 3 times more expensive fees then their competitors. When we challenged that the answer we got was "times are hard, we need to pay ourselves" (!)... he could at least try to be reassuring and telling us that they were providing top quality service... but he didn't, and we now understand why: he would have had to lie... which leads me to my next point
- Poor service: there were mistakes in initial contract we got... and in this contract (that we signed a few weeks before getting the property, it was specified that the property would be professionally cleaned... and when we got the keys we discovered that they didn't order a professional cleaning at all, and we got a dusty and uncleaned house. When we challenged that we were told that we didn't asked specifically for it (re !!). And the last point that made us really think that the service was incredibly poor was that it took us more then a month to get our deposit back despite my husband sending numerous emails and the inventory checkout coming back clear. We were struggling to get in contact with our landlord and they didn't help us at all despite being themselves in contact with him because they were finding new tenants for him. We really had the feeling that they couldn't care less. We ended up having to log a deposit dispute before somebody finally had the courtesy to come back to us.
So to summarise: they are very expensive for a very poor service. We have now bought a property. If one day we need to sell or rent it, we will definitely not be dealing with them!
