Where do I begin? At first my experience was great. Easy transaction, I received the keys on time, everything was fine.
As I moved in I noticed a few things that needed to be changed- for one, the master bedroom bed was falling apart, simply trying to move it at all (to clean) meant it would fall apart. I complained a number of times, hoping that maybe theyd replace it or remove it..but no luck. You can imagine the frustration on several nights when the bed just decided to collapse at 4am.
So essentially whenever I had a complaint, issue, or just something I needed help with, the agency claimed they would help but were just useless!!!!!!
The end of my tenancy was the WORST. I gave my landlord a 4 month heads up that I was leaving the country the day after my lease ended and that my bank accounts would need to be closed prior to this. They assured me that they could get my deposit to me on the day I left as long as i did X, Y and Z. Well for the following 4 months, I would call and remind them bi-weekly of this, and again they assured me this would be ok.
When the agency brought people into the flat they were useless. It had tons of great features, gas heating, a community garden in the back yard, access to everything within a block, and newly renovated. The ran through the flat as quickly as possible saying as little as possible. In many cases I did the selling of the apartment. In fact the people who ended up taking it were ones I showed around because the agent preferred to sit on his phone in the front hall. And he's the one making $100.
Prior to me leaving I asked one of the agents if it was possible to transfer the internet account to the new tenant to save both parties about $50 each. He thought it was a great idea and told me to call in and remind me to ask the new tenants. For 3 weeks they said they would ask, they were waiting for a response, to call back tomorrow. Finally at the end of the 3 weeks one of the agents flat out said it wasn't possible, and never was possible..they never looked into it. great so they're liars as well.
And then the big drama happened. My move out date comes, I've completed X, Y and Z, and oh surprise surprise they can't return my deposit to me that day. It'll take at minimum 3 business days. I now have to spend my day running around trying to figure out what I'm going to do to get my 1000 pounds back. If I transfer it to my countries account it will cost me 5%, which is about 50 pounds more than I'm willing to spend. They told me thats my only option. WHY DIDNT YOU ACTUALLY LOOK INTO THIS WHEN I CALLED AND ASK EVERY OTHER WEEK...instead you chose to lie. great business tactic. Anyways 2 months and several issues with getting my deposit back into a bank account that actually exists, and I still don't have my money. I've been fortunate that my brother is in the UK on business often and needed to open up an account recently. Finally now, hopefully, I'll get my money back...no thanks to these guys though....
Oh wait! I had a package arrive late (the day after i left) worth 30 pounds. I informed them I'd have a friend pick it up and forward it to me. They have so far ignored all of my calls and emails. So they're thieves now too.
STAY FAR AWAY
What agent could do to change your mind?
If they weren't lazy or liars.
