Whittingtons as has been mentioned are intent on nothing more than lining their own pockets, extortionate charges for everything, letters, renewing contracts, references (tried to charge my wife and I £45 + VAT EACH for a reference) and also be aware of the clause in their contact that states that they will charge 20%+VAT of the costs of doing any work after you have vacated the property as well as other hidden admin charges.
We moved at the beginning of April 2013 after getting fed up of the way we were being treated after several years of renting the property and after chasing for the deposit they presented us with a bill for nearly £5000 for damages which included replacing a bathroom suite that we had had permission to install, re-turfing the back garden and complete de-decoration of the house even though there was no excessive additional damage, eventually the deposit went to the DPS adjudicator who ruled and threw out all but £150 of damages and stated that their admin charge was excessive.
I have rented many properties and have never encountered any letting agents so intent on fleecing their tenants of anything and everything.
Wouldn't touch them again with a barge pole!!!!!
