Initially Preston Baker were very proactive. They arranged a prompt viewing and lettings agent turned up on time. I liked the house and spoke to agent about what I needed to do to secure it. He advised a fee of £250 to take it off the market, I agreed and drove to the agents to pay.
When I arrived I was told the payment couldn't go through today as it was a Saturday so they'd process the payment on the Monday over the phone. Payment was then advised at £300 rather than the £250 quoted. Not a big deal, but still not ideal.
I then arranged a second viewing for the following Saturday so I could take measurements for the space so I could begin acquiring furniture. Lettings Agent never arrived at the property. I rang the agents twice to find out where he was, the first time was advised the secretary had not put the date in the diary but they'd send somebody out. After waiting 15 minutes I rang again, only to be told the agents couldn't meet with me at this time. It was highly inconvenient as I was moving from London and only had this date available to view. Fortunately the tenant was kind enough to allow me into the property but it was a discomrting experience none the less.
There were numerous issues trying to contact the agents, and numerous issues with the contracts meaning it had to be rewritten four or five times before it was finally complete.
It was agreed with the Agents I'd pay the first months rent the day prior to the lease starting. A standing order set up to pay from that point onwards. For reasons still unclear, the lettings agent set up the standing order to start from the SAME date as the payment I made on the day before the lease starting, meaning I paid rent twice for the same month causing me to enter my overdraft and incur a fee.
I contacted the agency about this to understand why they'd set the standing order date this way and was passed from person to person. I've been advised twice now by the senior Lettings Manager that he'd review this as a priority, but so far I've not heard anything regarding the issue.
Lovely house so I am glad I used the company, but terrible customer service and does the reputation of Real Estate no good at all.
