Dwell estates are the worst agency I have ever had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with. From the outset the lettings team were quick to bend the truth and all the agents we met used the same catch phrase (see below.) We went to view a property which was at the right price, location and size but the apartment was neglected, moldy and mid refurbishment.
We put an offer down contingent on the refurbishment being done up to a decent level with mold cleared, the agent I dealt with kept trying to verbally reassure me that my terms were going to be met as part of the refurbishment. "Don't worry we aren't trying to rip you off" (catch phrase 1) After I insisted he added my term to the tenancy agreement took my deposit and.....nothing!
1 week passed I hadn't heard anything I called twice over 2 days and I was told someone would call me back, on the 3rd day I called and spoke to Sam who said my tenancy agreement was agreed and that he would get the contract ready "top of my list" (catch phrase 2.) Called the next day and was told Sam didn't have time to do it but it was "top of the list" and would be sent "within the hour"(catch phrase 3) next day I call to be told Sam was away for a week and he was the only one who could sign the contract... He"d be back Tuesday 1weeks time!!!! At this point I have no written confirmation of my tenancy agreement being approved or a contract and 2weeks from my move date. We are a couple with a young child so the stress was tremendous! A week later (cutting this short) I heard on a daily basis that I was "on top of the list"would receive it "within the hour" by 2 people.
Eventually I was told they couldn't send it, I had to come in to sign and pay the money?!?! I had offered this 2 weeks before! I went in today raised a complaint about the way I was dealt with, this was followed by a series of lies trying to bat us away. The contract that took 3 weeks to process had the wrong name on it.we Requested to speak to Sam who is the only person who knows what the rules are as the md, and it took nearly an hour to get hold of him. He didn't do enough to ease our concerns, what's worse is we went to see the property that we were due to move into in 7 days time and none of our requests were done and no bathroom was installed!!!! It was just a room with a sink! The landlord refused to speak to us.
I immediately called my current landlady who luckily hadn't found tenants to replace us yet and extended my contract and I have asked Dwell to refund my deposit....I do of course expect to be calling everyday for the next few weeks before I receive it
Dwell are liars, cocky, have a terrible attitude towards customers and extremely unprofessional
