We rented a property through Winkworth in Stratford, the staff seemed extremely helpful and the sign up process went smoothly. After living in the property for a few months I discovered that there was evidence of a dampness in my daughters bedroom (5 years old). I noticed that the paint on the wall had started to discolour. I contacted the agent who explained that they would get someone round. A week had passed and I again called the agent who explained that we were scheduled in their system and someone would be in touch. Another week passed, by now I had moved my daughter out of that bedroom and in with myself and my wife. I then made a surprise visit to the agent and found only a lone secretary who explained that the manager was out and that he would contact me on his return. A few days had passed and still nothing. I finally managed to get hold of the manager, and by now I was very upset and asked what would be done. The managers response was unbelievable, he explained that someone had been to inspect the property on three separate occasions and they could not gain access (my wife is off work and at home looking after a 2 & 5 year old) and that there was nothing in his records / his property inspection report which indicated "damp of any sort within the entire property", that was the final straw. I asked who I could escalate the matter to and was provided with a the name Richard Everitt and the telephone number for their office in Bow, East London. I called the office everyday for a week leaving messages for Richard Everitt to telephone me, nobody called back. The staff in the office sympathised with my by stating that they had telephoned and emailed him my complaint and details and that he kept assuring them that he would be in touch with my. I finally lost my patience and went back to the branch in Stratford, only to find the office empty and closed with no visible contact details. I discovered later (through a staff member) that Richard Everitt is actually the owner of Winkworth Bow, Hackney and South Woodford and our tenancy would now be handled by the Bow office. I attended each and every branch and still could not get access to Richard Everitt, therefore the very next week I vacated the premises and moved my family to another property. To date I have not been able to speak with Richard Everitt nor has anyone been in touch, I finally received my deposit after threatening them with legal action. AVOID, WINKWORTH OFFICES IN BOW, HACKNEY, SOUTH WOODFORD.
